As a victim his reaction is normal and valid we tend to get afraid on our abuser and follow them than the people who has gut to safe us. The abuser shape us this way train us we got used to it till now am old I still flinch to random person when they raise there hands at me or touch me unaware or when I hear a loud bang I even hate someone touching my hair cause I would think they will grab it. I hate myself too cause it's been a years now still I can't heal it's like a permanent scar.
You are so much more than the abuse you endured, survived. Yes it changed you, just like a storm changes the land, but growth comes after- a beautiful new scenery. Despite everything, despite the abuse, the fear, you are here today and safe. How you're feeling if normal, you've had to be in survival mode for so long that it can be hard to switch it up, for the mind to accept that the body is once again safe. It can be hard being comfortable with yourself again after being conditioned to not give a shit about yourself because it meant abuse. Please talk to someone you are beautiful, you are loved, you are seen, you matter.
Thanks it's just hard reading the comments of random people telling how stupid and overreacting the bottom especially when they know the ending is he will come back to the Male Lead. It hurts me to think some are sensitive and can't understand the bottom choice I know it's a bad decision but it's hard to heal someone who has nothing from the start.
DV has come a long way but unfortunately the world still has a long way to go. I try to be positive...these people haven't experienced DV and wouldn't want them to bc tbh it's the only way to truly understand what it is like. It's like being held hostage by an enemy except this is someone who you share a life with, children, a home. They take everything and become your only thing. They take your power, your family, your friends, your children, your money, your self worth. Their hurtful words are not of hate but ignorance. They're angry for the character not necessarily at him and ,in a way, they're rooting for him. To ignorant people it is easier to put this pressure on the mc to change vs the abuser. I hope you know that for every ignorant, hurtful person who doesn't understand DV there is another who does, who empathizes with the character and other survivors.
