It sounds like you don't know what a BDSM dynamic is "supposed to be". The only universal rule in BDSM that it's consensual, and that a Dom or top takes responsibility for the sub or bottom's safety if you're doing something that puts them at risk. It's a very diverse world.

It would mean they wanted to challenge your assumptions and stereotypes.
