I feel like some people (including myself) are analyzing it from a real world point of view where there are quite a bit of things that could have been done better with the introduction of bdsm to their relationship instead of a yaoi view. but of course this is fiction and its way better than others as they actually have a safe word and stuff. I personally like it when there is bdsm I just thought that things weren't done the proper/best way (again, in a real life sense). I don't think it's noncon in any way but there are definitely a few things that are iffy. I do enjoy ash having a Dom side and seeing lyle be super cute. they are one of my all time favorite couples. I just wish they could communicate better, especially after all this time.
