I think people are arguing with your sentiment “ She still wants the attention” It’s giving victim blaming. No one is saying that she doesn’t care deep down. They are just saying she doesn’t want attention He’s giving her right now because it doesn’t feel like the love that she shared with him

I’m not victim-blaming but I'm just commenting on what I see and what I see is someone who clearly in my POV still wants the attention because she still feels an attachment she just doesn't accept the attention right now because she still can't forgive him

I see what u mean. Clearly she still has feelings for him deep down. Her eyes dont hold the rage and contempt i would expect from someone who REALLY hates someone. She doesn't like the attention he gives her now, but deep down it seems that she can't get over him. She still looks at him with much feeling in her eyes. For someone who killed herself many times to escape him, her eyes dont even look dead when she looks at him. Everything he does still affects her.

And so are you. You can't blame Edith for acting the way she is. This is a normal response out of many. She wants to live so she is doing all the possible solutions and she didn't know until it was too late who the author possessed. We knew because we are the readers but Edith had so much on her plate that she couldn't think faster and didn't think the author was also in the story.

That is not being stupid. That is wanting to live until the very end. Learn the difference. I have seen much stupider FLs than Edith. Running is a NORMAL RESPONSE. If she confronts those people now, she will die. That would be STUPID. All she has left before accepting death is to flee until she has RAN OUT OF ALL OPTIONS.
