He realized his at fault for them not being together. He’s always kept a distance because he was hurt as if he’s been the only one to ever been hurt, I’ve honestly been so frustrated because of the protagonist he always seemed to have a problem for accepting the other guy’s feelings. He’s hurt the other person so much it’s so brutal to see him go back to being distant and cold towards a person who genuinely likes him and wants to be with him
