I only read this because of the baby, but im really conflicted from start to latest chap. ML is just a manipulative guy and Mc might have gotten stockholm syndrome. Ml does love mc and it shows on the last chapters but man, he really is manipulative. Mc is naive alright but we should factor how he tried to survive based on his past and he was basically orphaned. I dont know, this just left something in my heart and not in a good way

Reading chapter 20 made me go back to ch7 because i also remember seeing a different tale from from the scroll. It was mind blowing for me as MC made a huge impact on the empire's story and how different it became — peaceful, ruler loved by his people, a bright empire, even the emblem was different. Also the last phrase of each scroll saying "travelers who read this word, i implore you. Do not disturb the heart of the emperor of astrode" vs "o traveler who reads these words, take heed.. never cross the emperor" have such a huge contrast that made me amazed and in awe.
