This story so far has been very racist. I cried a lot for our poor Claudia. I hate her parents. Don't forgive them!
I agree. Apparently in the novel she will have white skin after being blessed by the light god or whatever and everyone will like her. This is full on racist. I don't understand. she is beautiful just the way she is. Everyone should be loved without having to change the way they look. I'm so so for her and anyone else who is judged based on their skin color.
You do realize for centuries people who are good are always drawn as light and people who are evil are drawn dark. Even in Egyptian pictures the good kings (pharaohs) were of light colors it wasn't a way to say their skin was white but to show that they were a good ruler. But somehow it was warped through history that good is white skin tone but its indeed not. Evil people will always have dark colors because the hatred in their hearts that has consumed them. Again if you look back at the Egyptians why did people ever think that they were white if you look at the location it's in of course they wouldn't be white. So the colors that you do see on their skin has nothing to do what their actual skin tone was but by the person they were. (Sorry if it doesnt make sense I'm terrible at putting my thoughts to words)
Yes its 2020 but all of literature up until most recent years have always used light colors to depict good and all dark colors as evil. Because it's like an aura thing. Now I can say in most modern literature it has become a trend to not always assume evil characters are in dark colors because there are people who enjoy them and that are good. But its literally a symbolism that has been used for centuries. Also the story takes place in a medieval type of setting so there logic is not like ours in a modern setting. Plus they literally have a dark god and light god soooooo its gonna be hard for them to except just cause shes dark doesnt necessarily mean shes evil. Like for instance the tomato for the longest time humans avoided eating it cause it was red and to them it was the plant of a devil. Eventually humans gave up that notion and ate it and it's now a staple in our everyday life.
I love this story! I wish that the novel was translated. (︶︿︶)
