The feminization of Hyesung is insane. Like what do you mean auntie? AUNTIE?!!! Girl, who’s translating this???

Mom is almost bearable. I understand it to some extent because birthing yada yada yada. I specifically had a problem with them calling him Auntie. Now that’s taking a STEP. There’s literally no reason why he should be referred to as that. Only if he identified as a woman, which I don’t think he does. (He and Dojin are a gay couple.)
This is a problem because it ties into the feminization of gay men that is prevalent in BL spaces and their inability to see gay relationships through a heteronormative lens. Eg the translator.

As much I was excited about the return of Dear Benjamin, and having an ending, I’m kinda glad it was rushed. I’d forgotten the story, so when the comic returned, I decided to read it from scratch and it’d only taken me two days. The story is that GOOD.
But girlllll that art style change was jarring. See, I respect the new artist and their work, but I’m sorry, the characters just didn’t feel the same anymore. Of course, it’s a different artist and expecting the characters to look exactly the same is unrealistic. However, I wished they’d have put in more effort to capture the essence of the original designs. The writer could have at least found an artist who had a similar art style to the original.
The new character designs are missing that rawness, that raggedness. Not only that, the anatomy was off putting. I’ve never breezed through sex scenes as fast as I breezed through this one lordddddt! And I don’t know if it’s just me but the chemistry just seemed to have disappeared.
This comic had me giggling and kicking my feet all through the EARLIER sex scenes because the chemistry had been through the roof! The way they both wanted it and couldn’t help it. Ugh! Loved to see that, but then...the new artist merely drew them in sex positions and expected the readers to swoon. This felt like those poorly drawn porn oneshots by amateur artists.
Anywayyyysss let me end my yap session right here.
Overall, this comic is one of the best things I’ve read.

ikrrrr. it hits different, completely different! The vibe was just not "IT" anymore.
It was really sooo unfortunate such things happened! The previous art was really meant for this story like a match made in heaven...
yeah true that i prefer the old art, either way, i am honor the new artist works, they've worked hard..

Currently on chapter 22. First and foremost, the art is GORGEOUS. Chef’s kiss. I wanna eat it up. I want it up my ahh—
This story contains some really dark themes and I must say, the author does a pretty good job handling them. I was pleasantly surprised. We have one of our main characters, Louis, who was a victim of psychological manipulation and as far as realism goes, the depiction of it is done really well.
However, I’m a little squeamish about the age gap between Louis and Kenny. (Rahman and Ye Xing as well.) Kenny was in his late teens when Lou was a child, and what makes it even worse is that Kenny was a figure in Lou’s childhood so it gives it this predatory-ish vibe to it, you know. But I have decided to give it grace since the characters aren’t depicted to be unreasonable assholes.
And Ye xing. I love Ye xing with my whole heart. Rahman, I’m watching you. Better keep that third leg in check.
Isaac Lakaitel, you’ll start coughing in three days.
While this story has its flaws, overall, it’s good.

Had the potential to be good... then it just wasn’t. Loved Zigril’s character design, he’s hot as hell, and I’m sad they had to waste all that by making him a dirty r*pist. There’re plenty of other ways to make a character an asshole people! is not one of them! The other MC is sooo naive I couldn’t stand it. Why are you acting like a teenager as a full blown adult?? Dropped!
Don’t like the character designs. The faces don’t fit their bodies. Especially the bottom but baby
