not just hyesung, all omega parents are referred to as mothers even though their gender is male. alpha parents are always called dad too. for example, chowon’s “mom” is a woman but since she is an alpha, they call her dad. also dojin’s mom is a male but they still call him mother.
Mom is almost bearable. I understand it to some extent because birthing yada yada yada. I specifically had a problem with them calling him Auntie. Now that’s taking a STEP. There’s literally no reason why he should be referred to as that. Only if he identified as a woman, which I don’t think he does. (He and Dojin are a gay couple.)
This is a problem because it ties into the feminization of gay men that is prevalent in BL spaces and their inability to see gay relationships through a heteronormative lens. Eg the translator.
