at first it was simply a video game, but one day, some parts and areas of the game merged with reality and some ppl assimilated with their game characters, gaining their stats, role and powers. and as time goes by, more and more of the game merges with reality, like the apparition of the archipelago kingdom, those new merges are called "game updates" and we don't really know who updates it since even the ceo of the game company disappeared before the game started merging with reality.

Yep. It's still an active mystery as to how/why things are happening, or why Hoyeol & Granfel merged as they did - so far, they're the only ones who this has happened to, who we have met. Everyone else seems to just take the class and skills of their characters, but stay as themselves.

i have 2 theories of why Hoyeol and Granfel merged so much

1. bc of how extensive the character lore Hoyeol created for Granfel is, like whole backstory, personality and aspirations

2. bc Hoyeol is the last demon hunter and it seems that demon hunters and demons are highly tied to the lore of the conflicts

I mean yeah, I just hope it's actually a bit more than that. Considering how many people supposedly played this game, there's absolutely no way he was the only one who did both of these things (created an extensive character lore + used the demon hunter class). Like yeah I get it he's the MC and gotta be special, but the logical side of my brain would hate it if these were the only reasons. Like even if they weren't a demon hunter, there's no way more people didn't do the whole character bg and personality, and even if demon hunter was a shitty class, it would probably still have many people who played it, and would connect the dots with Hoyeol/Granfel's skills.

I'd just rather have it be that maybe Hoyeol and Granfel simply had some sort of connection between dimensions, that Granfel was a real person who existed in Arcana, and Hoyeol thought he had created him when he hadn't. I'd personally find that more satisfying than "out of thousands of players only this one specific person this this specific thing that is actually not that uncommon to do" ╮(￣▽￣)╭

So I read in a spoiler that it is almost exactly like you said. Hoyeol description of character was about actual character in Arcana universe or his description perfectly mirrored a char and was assimilated into the game creating Granfel. There actually was super strong noble family of demon hunters which was betrayed and destroyed. It was Granfel family actually. They were real in the game world and very important too. That's why he is the only player like this.

as someone who reads up to 600 chapters, I can only say that there's more to it than that.
(i won't give spoilers though).
