I don't like the aunt actually because if you had a daughter in law for years and never paid attention to her but Ur nephew gf comes back and Ur pampering her so much I get the misunderstanding part but obviously Ur daughter in law is gonna fell threatened. And she doesn't even know her daughter in law has an incurable dises and is dying and from the monologue she most probably doesn't even care about her son. And from the daughter in law view she's not exactly wrong to think about it coming from a time where nobels can't marry commoners and old values.
