And "killed jamie’s boss because it’s his ticket into joining the gang" was literally part of the "sacrificed everything", he wasn't interested before he felt that he needed to protect Ian. As for the jail, what exactly was the alternative with murder charges, dark past, no job, ppl wanting to kill him and suicidal ideation.

Majority of bl readers never fell with the negative mindset that traumzing is good story telling but the serene of simplicity is bad. You don't care about joian chapters because they show that tj never cared about Ian well being or concern.
