Ive been in a lot of these and honestly even though i love them so much,, it sucks seeing them not reciprocate effort i put in. What i would do is put as much effort into them as they do to you. i'm quite open about it, but i used to get bullied for my sexuality so i only really tell people i'm close to about it now a days
