This has such a 2000s Yaoi vibes in the best way possible, and it’s passed so well

i guess like junjou romantica, sekaii ichi hatsukoi, seven days, super brothers, hana no mizu shiru, where there was a shift from the so called “yaoi hands” and big proportions that were big in the 90s, but there also was a shift from the darker, more psychological thriller type stories that sort of reflected the social climate during the time. 2000s yaoi largely still reflected that but took some more lighthearted proportions, but also focused a lot on making the main characters as beauty as possible haha. also characteristic is the “cold on the outside but soft on the inside” top and the, usually younger, bot who also usually the ordinary man, i.e this mc, and the mcs from the stories i mentioned. ofc these couple dynamics exist in every era in many stories but this particular one got REALLY popular. i hope this explained what i meant but also idk

It’s truly terrifying to know some people never get a chance at life because of who their parent is, all we carry and all we are is a reflection of our parents the good and the bad, throughout this manga I realized I feel many things he feels for his mother, the codependency, the needing to escape, feeling robbed, it really does feel like your parent killed you when they set your life to fail. A scene that really resonates with me is being born to pity your parent, not being able to be mean to your mom bc she used to be a kid too

you worded this perfectly. This story is so sad because there are really people out there who feel like they're bound to live a doomed life simply from how they were raised and how their parents are. It can be something terrifying and that's what I think this author is also trying to portray here. kids mirror their parents, and in this case, it got to a point where Seiichi didn't even know he could live without feeling caged and trapped in his mother's arms. He wanted validation from her because he really didn't know if she loved him.
