I’m not usually a fan of ML sweeping in and saving MC like a knight in shining armor (lol) when MC is doing his best to make things work but his living circumstances really are too poor. Is really remembering things earlier (while still being forced to take the sus medication), while being relentlessly abused by Lister when he just flips a switch and decides he wants to hurt him really for the best? As we know Lister isn’t ”crazy” (the way MC is) or sum, he just enjoys abusing him. While with ML he could be safe and sound and just focusing on recovering. Lister and his mom might crash out but that to me seems like a win on ML’s part.
Having MC being a former noble/important leading figure, now serving as a slave, I feel like it must’ve been MC’s decision or will in the first place, a calculated move for the sake of what they’re trying to achieve, to become both a slave and losing his memory. That ML probably opposed to it but, disregarding their feelings, it really was the best of not only way.
While MC might get some intel, he probably won’t even understand what it means, he regains his memories faster (still requiring taking them to lose his memory hoping he would come to his senses and stop) but how are they so sure he’ll even make it out alive? Lister’s mother seem to feel guilt about the slave thing, but turns a blind eye to most of the quite obvious abuse, while Lister just enjoys hurting him and establishing control through ”I’ll show you how easy it is for me to hurt you so when I’m not you should be greatful” manipulation. Some seem to think the mother truly has good intentions, while I do think she’s doing what she thinks is best I feel like if he had to choose between backing up MC or backing up Lister, she would always choose her son. That she knows he’s not a good person but thinks it’s not really his fault or that deep down he means well but has a hard time expressing it. Or is simply to dangerous to oppose him and she just wants to choose the safest most convenient way for herself. Either way, she’s clearly scared and opposed to MC regaining his memories and she and Lister were definitely involved in how he became a slave in a way they don’t want anyone to find out about.
The ML doesn’t know about the abuse, bc MC won’t tell him. But because he knows him I feel like he probably knows that logically ML should be treated poorly because of his status and if he was he wouldn’t tell him because that’s the type of person he is. They were lovers MC is so painfully clear someone who would bottle things up, doing everything he can before even thinking of asking for help. But maybe that was all part of the plan too, included in the calculations. He seems to have been a figure of authority, respected, smart, wanting to help people, and he and ML seem to have been the like the leaders of the group. MC seem to to have been just as strong of a character as MC, if not even more if he’s the one with the ideas and ML is his supporting knight, and now he’s truly the opposite and has been reduced the embodiment of weak, scared, and having mental breakdowns losing his mind. None of this is of course not his fault. While he probably will find his own strength in body and mind and piece everything together, it truly was a big price to pay. I truly feel that the only reason ML doesn’t just rescue him is because he’s unknowingly there willingly because I feel like ML treasures him too much to put him there like a chess piece if his own scheme.
Also, nothing will EVER make me like with Lister, or sympathize with him enough that I feel his actions are justified. To be frank, and graphic, I just feel like the intrigue between them is just ”will he r*pe him or not”. Just seeing him gives me anxiety. Somehow his twisted mind interpret MC’s inability to resist (because of the power he holds over him both physically and socially) as Mc not truly disliking him and that means there is a possibility that he deep down also likes him. Can MC please save himself from this horrible place and ML can save him from Lister, what would be nice.
I don’t know, I don’t want spoilers I just wanted to vent. The artstyle and the story is really good and interesting. I’m ranting because I care and I care because I like it.
Does anyone else who’ve read the novel feel more more hopeful about the manhwa because of the censoring? I honestly liked almost everything about the novel (characters, plot, worldbuiding, pacing etc) but how their first time was handled left me feeling quite… disgusted. It didn’t get much better afterwards but I lowered my expectations so I manage to finish it for the plot and the sake of being able to mark it as completed.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about (warning graphic) it’s about how ML basically wanted to bang MC and the people around him figured out how horrible it would be for MC because ML would probably go through with it violently and unprepared MC would get hurt and it would be traumatizing. So they taught both ML and MC how things world and gave ML the ”stuff that would make things easier”, only to still have him r*pe MC with no prep or control. I guess some might call it noncon that turned into consensual because in the end ”MC did enjoy some of it and if it’s the person he likes it’s okay” (which somehow extremely normalized). It ruined the story for me because it was so unnecessary as literaly everything else in the story could’ve still played out the same. With the manhwa not even showing the stuff they did one the ship I feel like this could be an overall good read.
I might be over sensitive but I’m also only so heavily disappointed because I truly liked the story so much.
True, it makes sense they want to reach a larger audience. Sole manhwa readers will check out the novel and some novel readers will check out the Manhwa. I jumped from from the Manhwa to the novel after the first season and the transition was very smooth. By then, the most graphic stuff was people dying, mostly because of Karas, so it wasn’t that bad and I really didn’t expect that the author would choose to write it that way. Maybe those who read the novel from the beginning felt it wasn’t unexpected or unsettling at all.
Manhwa is definitely R15 while the novel is R16.
In the novel, you have the King's Heart particularly Truyde and Norhox rape-torture people to death and Karas graphically killing people -innocent or not. Even the things that happened and will happen to Abel that are quite bothersome, all were toned down; case in point the latest manhwa chapter.
In the novel, Abel was bleeding and half of his face swole twice the size of its original shape after he was attacked by the two maniacs, that a particular character almost didn't recognize him because of his physical state, but we see him in the latest novel with only minimal physical trauma. I'm sure what Duke Truyde did to Abel in the novel when they met at the palace in the present time, some parts of it will be omitted too. I doubt this manhwa will portray Duke Truyde tonguing down Abel and all of that like what he did in the novel.
But yeah, the biggest contrast here is Karas. I the manhwa, we get to see parts of his POV, novel Karas didn't have that luxury, so Karas was more dreadful and more unpredictable to read; Manhwa Karas is also taking part in some comedic parts, while novel Karas was very oppressive, and a ticking time bomb. Manhwa Karas is definitely portrayed much gentler towards Abel.
To be honest, both novel and manhwa have their own charm. If you want a darker and more explicit atmosphere, novel is for you. If you want the opposite, then the manhwa is for you.
They didn’t go all the way one the ship but they kissed and touched each other… a lot lol. I thinks at that point Karas is staring to think ”Lil” could be Ables reincarnation but he (Lil) doesn’t know it because he doesn’t have Abel’s memories, which is why he just acts as him (Abel also insists he should not believe in reincarnation since he’s afraid of Karas being used and deceived and it’s better if he just think Abel is dead and he’ll help him as Lil as much as he can). I think Abel knows that the ”captain commander” is Karas, I don’t think he would’ve consented otherwise, but I could be wrong - it’s been a while since I read it. Abel doesn’t know that Karas suspects him so he thinks Karas doing it because of his ”needs” and that his new body is pretty/attractive.
Love the character design and the plot seems promising. Also let’s NORMALIZE SHOUNEN AI WHEN THE STORY IS ABOUT KIDS >>>
Imagine reading that and think ”h*ll NO, I disagree” idk if it’s hilarious or tragic. I’m so tired of reading mangas where the MC and ML is in high school and the minute romantic tension starts to appear and you go to the comment to share the wholesome moment and the comments are all like ”just f*ck already” or ”I can feel how much they want each other/how one wants the other” He’s not giving him ”bedroom eyes”, he’s starting to develop a crush. Especially discussions about who’s the top/bottom and even regering to them as such instead of using their names. What happens to the development in developing feelings? Sexuality is so much more than s*x, especially between literal minors…
This was so refreshing to read. Two people who genuinely like each other, communicating and supporting each other because they want to be together. The level of communication is so satisfying in the way that they want the other person to understand them, as well as understand the other person, to avoid hurting them. A healthy relationship were fights/disputes makes the relationship even stronger and brings them closer. It was nice to see MC heal his relationship trauma and see ML experiencing falling in love and opening up to being in a serious relationship.

[ENDING SPOILER]
Kinda wish ML hadn’t quit his job without telling MC as it was quite unfair that MC had to carry unnecessary worries and a bigger burden that could’ve been avoided. It does make sense that ML wouldn’t want to work there anymore, and he also got a new job offer so it didn’t cause any problem in practice. But he’s also rich so I guess he can do what he wants, and if that is living together with MC it’s a happy ending after all.
I mean... it's understandable why ml want to quit, like just look at how bad their workload there especially that time when they're still fuck buddies. Honestly I think it's been in ml mind for a long time anyway but mc situations going to Germany made he want to made that decision more on top of that there's the issue with that psycho. I do feel he wants to discuss that with mc but mc issue is more serious for him. Nonetheless I still think at least he should says something like "hey I think I'll be quitting this job" just in passing to give mc more heads up. Maybe this manhwa got a limited chapters too at the same time so they kinda brush it off that part and can't elaborate more clearly
Why didn’t the guy who hired him just tell him everything he knew??? He obviously knew something super sus was going on . The build up of the story was so good and now it ended faster than I could blink. It’s not necessarily a bad ending, it just feels more like being slapped in the face and being told “that’s it, you’re welcome”

”For now all we can do is wait and watch” I get it but also like at least tell your brother off or make sum plan of earning his trust or betray him. I feel like he can do more than just sitting and waiting for ML to rescue him? I hope he does. The rescue might also seem like an offense that could result in political conflict or even war, deceive them or fight back plz
