Well this just shows that however powerful you may be (wealth, authority or whatever), you can't help a person who is incapable and unwilling to change.

i don’t think it’s just that either it’s also talking and showing a message of the environment a person grows up in to form & affect them as a person & retaliation to the relationships with the people around them, the good and bad points in people
it’s matter of perspective especially in the pov of someone like takopii

Interesting! When it came to your original statement I found it a bit odd of a phrase because no character in the manga is attempting to change another character for the better. Most of them are at odds and Tokopi is an alien observer who for the most part doesn't view anything as needing to be changed about the girls.
Therefore I think it's a bit of a misnomer to even attempt to label actions under the core idea of wanting to change others. I also would say it's false that they don't want to change! Marina is shown wanting to change, we can see this when Tokopi is talking about how Marina was touching him forcefully. She doesn't want to hurt people but her frame of reference is only what she has experienced. Afterwards she lessens her physical contact which I would argue is probably her way of attempting to change. I don't like her but I would say that once she knows she should change she does try.
Shizuka I think again, isn't a character that is attempting to change. More importantly, Shizuka never did anything wrong. She's messed up, (oh my god her reaction to Marina's death is wild ) but ultimately her frame of thought doesn't require much change. She needs dependable figures in her life and feels deep despair at the loss of the only one she has (chappy). With the largest factor of despair changing ( by Marina remembering Tokopi to an extent) then Shizuka herself is free to begin expression in a normal way.
I'm super interested on what you think about the parents since they're the ones actually unwilling to change. Especially Marina's mother! That's who I thought this post was about. Your daughter has completely changed and you still choose to abuse the doppelganger in the same way?? Talk about insanely obstinate to change.
Also, what did you think about the ending?

Well i totally agree with your statement, tho what i meant when i said the two girls, is when there are times takopi tried to convince them to do the other way around rather than doing what they want which in my opinion Takopi just want them to be happy.
For Marina's mother (and the parents), I'm not really saying my OG comment for her causs no actual intervention were done to them or given for them to change... But if you think about it, then i guess my Original comment does apply as well yo them.
For the ending, i have mixed feelings, although both the girls are already friends, it doesn't really show how they were able to fix things up and forgive each other (other than the dejavu between Takopi). Their relationship is kinda complicated tbh and there is still a scar in Marina's face so the abuse is still continuing, i guess Marina has one strong will to be able not to hate Shizuka even though the abuse she is experiencing from her mother was the result of Shizuka's mother.

Frrr, I don't think I could handle being Shizuka or Marina in that ending but in a way, I think it makes sense they would cling to each other. Both are being abused by their parents (complete neglect and physical violence respectively) because of the other and so I could see a mindset of 'only they understand' setting in. But yeah they're not over anything .
I have mixed feelings about the ending. I liked the message, I hated the execution. And like you said, I wish they delved more into how they attempted to mend their relationships. For me, Shizuka basically going hungry over and over to pay for things Marina destroyed hit close to home and I could not see myself getting over that very easily.
To the people reading this, if you want to drop it because of the rape (for some valid reason, rape js a very sensitive topic)... Do so however ill still continue to read this.
I do not approve of rape, nor like it... I'm still continuing reading this because I'm here for the outcome. Not because the plot in the middle goes shitty doesn't mean the whole book will be, I'm saying this in general... Yes, there are other ways for the author make the plot go on other than using rape as a reason but hayst i guess its one way for the author to gain attraction for their works.
Eitherway, seme's actions can't be justified, he did something, morally wrong. Tho i understand why he did it (i understand it, not accepting that he is right for doing it). I might drop this if seme did something way more beyond inhumane or if the story gets more shitty until the end.
(Y'all might say I'm crazy for reading this even tho there are some disturbing things happening... maybe i am haha it's my nature to be open-minded to things, I'm a soon psychologist after all...)
**(for valid reason cause rape is a very sensitive topic)
Indeed it is a shitty way for a plot to progress, but what's important for me is the ending and the thoughts of both main characters
