Why would the uke say "I love you," to a guy who has said he hates him and enjoys seeing him controlled and punished and wants him to cry? Would YOU say 'I love you" to a bully who sexually assaulted you and is now blackmailing you?

and i cant really answer that truthfully, i haven't been put in that situation before so who knows what i would really do. BUT, hypothetically i feel like if i really liked this person, and they did those things to me, i would definitely put myself first, put my health and well being first, so i would talk to my superior about what is happening, and if they were a competent superior, they would realize their duty of care and reassign another employee to be in charge of that case with the seme.

but really, both the uke and seme really need to communicate better, they are doing some middle school to high school shit. they're "adults" already.

As far as the uke, he has not shown in word or deed in any scene towards the seme any declaration of love and the seme only declares hate and a desire to control and cause hurt. The uke has consistently said he doesn't want anything to do with teh seme, and people around him keep pushing him into this "deal." He has felt compelled.

He's more like Stockholm Syndrome than love. And the seme has not shown one iota of true love outwardly, clearly. At the very least, beyond sadism, he's immature to the max.

hmm i still believe they are awkward, its a relationship that started in high school i think? I think once they saw each other again, it reverted to their relationship back then. It happens with people. Feelings and emotions are unpredictable and complex, its not black and white, you don't always know what or how you feel until you acknowledge and address that feeling/emotion (usually you don't give a label to it when you first notice it). so he could have already had those feelings, but they appeared to be more apparent with time and the amount of times he interacted with the seme.

so the pages that we see, only show one of his personality's perspective, the "straight, student" personality. So when it looks like there is a missing pages to the manga because it looks like events were missed and jumps from one to another, it just means that the "straight student" personality went to "sleep" and one of the other many personalities he has, takes over the mind/conscience, and has control over the body.

So the only pages we see, are from the "straight student" personality's perspective when he is the one that is conscious and in control of the body. Thus, we don't see the uke getting beat up, because that is when the "straight student" personality is "asleep" and not present, and his more "sadistic" personality was the one in control at those times.

when we suddenly see him, or when the next page suddenly shows them having sex without any other pages leading up to the event, it is because in the midst of sex, the "straight student" personality switches with the other personality, and takes over control of their mind and body.

I get where you're coming from. Honeymoon periods cast rosy puffs of cloud that soften psychological blows, and this couple hasn't dealt with frustrations and everyday betrayals that come up when that sense of freshness has worn off. They still seem to react at the more extreme polar frequencies of emotion, between rejection and self-abandonment, which doesn't bode well. The most we could probably ever expect is, at this point and time, Ken's aggression is held at bay, and maybe shame at his past self will contain that anti-social behaviour in the future. Those aren't very good odds, but his partner seems aware of the process. I think Ogeretsu Tanaka is amazing for tackling this subject at all, especially dealing with a violent abuser.

there's tons of people out there in the real world doing terrible shit and living in pure ignorant bliss, but in a manga THERE IS a "God", because someone created that story, that universe, the characters, and is leading the story exactly where they want and how they want and everything has been decided by them. To say that you think someone deserves staying in solitude for the rest of their lives is a pretty ignorant statement, I also want to bomb those ISIS pricks but not because
"they deserve it" I can't just up and decide that because I am not more important than they are for me to have power to pass judgement over their lives, even more so when you are talking about a fictional universe who someone purposefully created for... reasons.

Although I do get your sentiments and your logic is appreciated, I don't think that saying that a CHARACTER in a story created from someone for the purpose of making you think all these things through that you are talking about has given you the right to talk about what YOU think THEY deserve. The mangaka doesn't excuse it morally, so it's not like it IS a morally valid reason. However, this is actually a common occurrence.. especially in a hypermasculine culture, men who are made powerless (in the public sphere) go home to beat their wives (in the domestic sphere) to regain some sense of control/power, to feel like they're still "better" than someone. It's also a concern of postcolonial theory; men oppressed in colonized countries further restrict the liberties of women, as they can't fight against the colonizers. Well. I'm going on a tangent, but it's really not that unheard of.

Women can be the abuser. It is not just women who end up in these situations. There types go unreported.The reasons for abuse are ,many and individual as the abuser. drug and alcohol addiction, low self esteem of the abuser (and the victim). Mental health issues. and so on.

mm i agree, there are so many reasons, but i just don't believe that those who abuse deserve s second chance, they should receive the same amount or more, of the suffering and scarring they put onto their victims. again, it is just what i believe, if you disagree, i understand.

yea, i too think the mangaka did an awesome job or portraying their characters and circumstances.

I also think that yaoi is largely a romance genre, which adheres to ideals like love conquers all. Unless the mangaka has no problem with being known for dark themes, like Ogawa Chise, they tend to keep the resolutions peppy and upbeat. That may also be imposed by editors and publishers and, ultimately, sales figures. It isn't a kind formula for pragmatists or realists.

and what i know of philosophy when i was studying psych (one of my electives talked about philosophy) is that there isn't really any factual and statistical evidence to support those theories - not saying that you are wrong or and i am right, but thats just what i learnt, and again what i learnt could be wrong too, since everything could be proven wrong.

to be honest i'm glad i can "meet" (not sure if talking through posts counts as meeting xD) people who have different opinions as me. it helps me see my views and opinions from a third party, by seeing their reaction and response to what i commented. it really does help, because i know if i say all that iv'e said to people face to face, their reaction wouldn't be as "honest," but since this is a site that allows you hode your identity, it is so much easier to be honest and not be afraid of the consequences, for example, angering someone who could accidentally run into again, making the encounter awkward xD

Definitely, as we see in this story. I didn't meant to imply only women are abused, nor to obscure the very real issue of violence against men, but I meant it as just "Party A" and "Party B" kind of way for simplicity. However, I do think many social conditions facilitate violence against women, to the point where in the U.S. at the least, it's bordering on an epidemic.
