At the end he was tried as mentally unfit, in real life that does not meet he'd get released. The only thing pleading insanity could save him from would be the death penalty. a psych ward is not a place any sane person wants to be in. The whole "pleading insanity gets you off with lighter charges" isn't true. You could even spend more time in the mental ward than you were actually sentenced for. If they found him guilty, insane or not, he would never out of prison ever again.

Aria is away from Prince Fuckwit and now she doesn't have to be isolated like she was. Girls supporting girls is great, need to see it more in manga. I feel for Aria, she's young and was in such a overwhelming and confusing situation. If they had blamed her I woulda been mad!

I'm not mad about him being OP. There's actually reasons why he is OP, and that doesn't bother me. The fact that his female apprentice who has been training and learning the entire time he;s been dead, is wack. MC was one of the strongest in his time, and he's super OP now bc the level of magic mastery is lower. He was able to overcome his lack of talent or natural ability, but I'm assuming the apprentice doesn't have that handicap and she had far more time to hone her abilities.
TLDR; MC being OP is fine and makes sense narratively, his apprentice still being weaker than him doesn't make sense.
I assume the MC is the originator of most of those techniques so he knows the ins and outs of it; maybe that's why he seems so OP...
