IK that all the comments are complaining about the same thing but I need to pour my frustrations here.
How did everyone get so dumb all if the sudden? She was collecting nobles to support Cesar’s side for MONTHS but with such a dumb trick the empress managed to threaten her, ruin all her plans and somehow “Cesar was all alone in the palace with no one on his side”? Plus she went there all hyped up after that talk with her dad “don’t agree to their conditions, go beat them at their game” bullshit. And then what? She tries to “persuade” the queen with things like “but it’s only the training schedule that my brother has stolen, the runes refer to a dragon, the truth will come out” and when it doesn’t work she goes “AH I LOST”???
And Cesar. What happened to those years he was working hard building his reputation, why did he suddenly become a puppet crown prince with nothing to say if people feared him so much? Plus what about his poisoning, he was spitting up blood and his flesh was rotting, how did they resolve that
How easy it was to bring down that “super powerful empress” was as ridiculous as how easy it was to threaten FL and ML too. The intrigues, planning, politics and it all got boiled down to a plot reminiscent of how a kid imagines what palace beef could be like.
All that build up about the dragon church and I don’t even know who that guy Neo was. One moment he seems like a weird worshipper, the next we find out he was involved in sealing the dragon (or his lover was?) but then again, he seems to have beef with the FL. FL was trying to figure out that church and the role of that magician for years and then suddenly some random dude appeared and spit up everything like an omniscent God himself.
I laughed out loud when I saw the MF queen flying on that dragon. How did SHE suddenly became involved in this? And FL went on a magical journey to her subconsciousness and turns out that all it took to kill an ancient beast was to realize that she lives for the love and is no longer bored!!!
Lowkey disappointed they didn’t resolve her whole lingering feelings for MLs ancestor too. I mean, seemed like they were planning to do something about it but leaving it at “I used to like your grandpa but now I like you” is just weird.
The development of relationship between ML and FL was also so anticlimatic. He literally had more thoughtful and significant engagement ceremony with blondie than FL.
OVERALL I can’t hate it. I loved the characters, the art, how unique the dynamic between the male leads is, rarely a story can make me laugh out loud while reading it. So I still appreciate the story up to a point. Clearly something must have gone wrong and it probably wasn’t the creators fault. Nevertheless, the story still went to shit and I won’t pretend that I prefer to have whatever that is as an ending. I hate to see a good story ruined more than a good story abandoned.
Wow, that's exactly what I've been thinking haha. Specially the part where they all suddenly went dumb — heavy on the fl. She was so cool headed before and brushed off plenty of crisis like a breeze then she suddenly looses her composure with the empress' threat and went "I'm on wit's end" or sumn like that. Gurl, where did your first life's experiences go? Were there really nothing to help with the knowledge or experiences you've gained in your first life? How did you even survive being the empress/emperor. Crazyyy the plot really went downhill from there.
It’s so not-your typical CEO story.
The reaction of that oppa who pointed out that he should consider his position as her superior when making such advances at her? I mean, I don’t like his character either but it is great that he pointed it out. It’s true that if it wasn't a romance and they both weren’t interested in each other, he might have been a villain. Great how the story makes a point of how even if there is no obvious coercion and lack of permission, when someone is in an employee, in an inferior position, they might be unable to say no and it could still be abuse.
BUT SEOP. How self aware Soeop is of his privilege, how he feels bad, acknowledges the unfairness of it all and openly appreciates her? And how he gets so visibly careful and vulnerable around her? The fact that Seop took the friend’s comment so seriously and made sure he got a permission from her to kiss her? AND how she noticed how self-conscious he is and took the lead in the kiss? Plus she was sober so no stereotypical “oh no I was drunk and made a mistake with my CEO” bs? I love this story so much, it’s such a perfect balance between your typical romance cliches and a breath of fresh ideas on how to use them in the not-so-cliche story
The storyline is interesting and the male outfits are fine but those dresses that the FL is wearing look like something I would draw in a primary school thinking of a “princess dress”. It’s like having no idea what you’re doing and adding random elements that may look fine on the paper but if you imagine how that dress would look like in real life - it would be an abomination of a dress. What’s with the 3/4 length? Or that american prom dress with long back and short front?
Chile, anyways…. Haven’t seen Callisto since like 12 chapters ago which is 4 monthsss. Starting to get bored of this arc, where is he to save the day?
Btw is the a novel translation somewhere? I remember reading it on wattpad or something before the manhwa came out but the translator dropped it at some point.
The thing I love about them together is that even though at first I expected it to be this “girl storming through cold duke’s wall” trope, it’s nothing like that or any variation I have read on it. They are both so gentle with both themselves and each other. So awkward in a way they are trying to understand and communicate with each other but on the other side the tension makes it feel just lovely. It’s also less about breaking the walls but more about showing and accepting the vulnerabilities. A couple that leaves you with such a cosy feeling.
I knew what I signed up for but now that I got to learn about the characters backgrounds - I don’t need that reincarnation trope at all
To be honest the og owner of the body is so much more interesting and complex character. I would love for it to be a story about accepting a loss and finding some sort of closure in reuniting with children that have experienced loss too.
The ML also wasn’t that toxic - he’s just completely emotionally immature but he never tried to purposely hurt his wife, he could learn about proper family love in the process. And these feelings of wanting to make up for his emotional incapacity at the moment when she needed support and be a better man - they are all towards the og owner of the body, current FL has nothing to do with that.
She is the only piece of puzzle that doesn’t fit in this story (I mean for me, personally). Why create such a traumatic past relationship between the ML and FL when apart from “oopsie, I feel uncomfy around him cause of these damn memories” it didn’t get worked through at all? She literally didn’t care, she only keeps saying it’s none of her business cause she only cares about raising her siblings (which I mean, fair enough I guess, not blaming her but it bothers me). Ahhh I’m just not into that whole siblings love that surpasses death and parallel universe trope at all, I guess I’m dropping.
… cause they were the ones who recommended this. I was reading ‘Bastian’ and there was this side note “ohh, fun fact - these two stories are set in the same kingdom and “Cry or better yet beg” is a very popular novel~ It’s less about heavy conflicts like Bastian and more about the thoughts and emotions of the characters” - YEAH RIGHT, I feel so devastated after reading the novel spoilers
Help, I like angst too but this author is truly a whole another level
Yess the manhwa adaptations of both of these series are such high quality because of the popularity of the novel that you can’t NOT appreciate the artists behind it - but I just don’t understand WHY is it so popular.
I don’t mean to say that romance always has to be all lovey-dovey, I like the premise of dark romances, I like the angst - but for me there are boundaries that should not be crossed. Writing a story in which a woman is abused for YEARS, is forced into all of it and in the end still trying to portray it as a romantic relationship - that just shows that the author has no idea of how human relationships and emotions work. If she made it clear it’s a stockolm syndrome that it would be remotely “fine” but LOVE?
I had such a hard time making sense of all of this, hope I can help you all clarify some things.
Let’s start off from some background on Seop’s character in the story: he was pressured by his father throughout his life to do his best and always be the best to the point of developing panic attacks. But then one day his cousin whom the family didn’t know existed appeared and Iseop gained a rival in succession. Iseop’s dad made some mistake and because of that mistake his cousin was the one who gained control of the company and became the vice-president. For Iseop it was like all of his life efforts were in vain and he wasn’t even the one who did anything wrong. (that’s why he kinda lost his drive and became lazy until the FL awoke the competitive passion in him again). He also does feel guilt about the fact that FL was always better than him but she ended up as just his secretary because of nepotism. Like, he regrets they don’t have the same standing and is afraid to pursue her from the position of power cause he thinks she treats him as a responsibility that she cannot defy.
Now onto the boring part:
The first mention of that “Resort project” is in the earlier chapters. It’s insignificant what are the details of that project, it’s just one of the things he was appointed to take care of.
Now, “m&a” that is mentioned in this chapter isn’t some company or anything, it’s a team on the TK company (the one they are all working at if you didn’t care to remember lol). M&A is a buissness slang abbreviation so let me explain what they do. If your brain can’t comprehend buisness talk then just skip the next part lol
M&A means merging and acquisition. It’s a strategy to expand a company (as - buying smaller companies) and those are like two different ways in which you can do that. So I’m assuming that the team was responsible for deciding how to proceed with management and the legal aspects of buying a smaller company into theirs. It’s kinda hard to understand so I will try to make it easier. It’s like the difference between buying a piece or pieces of something and trying to fit it into your own structure VS buying a whole structure and adding it to your own (in its original shape).
So acqusition = buying pieces - you simply pay a company and buy their assets, you are free to do whatever you want with it but it “loses structure” - so for example you have to rehire all the employees !! (important in this case)
Merging = buying structure - more legalized, you need state fillings, all of the parties involved need to agree but the employees keep their job.
Their m&a team did an oopsie and used acquisition instead of merging in this particular case. FL explained it was because they wanted to save the effort. So if you skipped the paragraph above - all the employees of the smaller company they bought were fired and there were probably some issues with accounting and such.
1) That’s why so many people were protesting in front of company - their companies were supposed to be joined but they prob lost their jobs or sth and now they blame the director in charge (Seop) and are demanding “employee succession” - change of director for someone who is qualified instead of a family member.
2. During the talk with her creepy bestie blamed Iseop for something like - M&A committed some creative accounting and fraud. When FL tried to defend him and explained it was the cousin’s who handled that case he was like “ye, but who benefited?”.
So everyone blames Iseop even though he didn’t know anything about it.
Now putting the pieces together - why Iseop got so mad. First of all, everyone in front of that building wants him fired and blames him even though it wasn’t his mistake. Which is kind of similar case to that from his past - when his dad made a mistake and all of his efforts went to shit. Secondly, he got so emotional because as he said “he also cares about this company and sacrificed his life for it but he still has to clean up someone else’s mess”. And thirdly he told the FL to just be moved somewhere else and give up on being his secretary because he was yet again being accused of being not-deserving of his position. Like, they wanted him fired and someone actually capable to replace him. So he felt the guilt again.
BUT the FL told him that the reason why he was able to keep his position in the first place after what his dad did was because the employees know that he deserves it. (the ones protesting are from another company) And that for her too it is an honour to work for him. So yeah, she kinda reassured him, perfectly eased his worries and motivated him to resolve this instead of agreeing to be the victim again.
I’m too impatient and the alternative universe story progresses rather slowly - can anyone tell me which chapter of the novel (more or less) is the webtoon covering rn?
https://knoxt.space/into-the-rose-garden/ i read it here ^^
Oh the first part of vol 1 is on https://chrysanthemumgarden.com/novel-tl/itrg/itrg-1/
Goodluck on vol 1. It’s hard to read but you’ll understand this story more, and it’s a lot deeper than it looks as you get farther. I enjoyed reading it.
The author used the omegaverse lore in a really haunting way, it’s not too obvious in vol 1, but like a puzzle it does connect. V5 should be out by the time you finish, hopefully hahaha the wait is killing people (⊙…⊙ )
So conflicted on Soar.
In theory I like a psycho boy who will do anything for the FL so I actually started reading this whole thing for him. But his character seems so… bland? First if all - his reasons for being so obsessed over her are childish. And secondly - from the perspective of the FL he’s just a devoted crybaby that she initially just felt bad for because of what he went through in the original novel. Which I mean, to each their own, a bland cutie might be her type. Still can’t decide if I like him or not.
And while at the beginning I thought I’m going to dislike the prince he seems like a more interesting ML? I like that bickering siblings-like but comfy relationship that they have. FL can actually be honest around him, doesn’t act as anyone but herslef, openly shows her feelings. And she seemed to consider him as a potential partner in the past and changed her mind only because of the misunderstanding. Seems like I’m heading onto the second ML syndrome route. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Ahhh I dunno, I’m curious how it’s going to develop and I like how entertaining but straightforward the plot is so I’m staying but I’m not sure if it will be an enjoyable journey
