Why is everyone mad, I find FL kinda relatable and believable?
Idk what kind of friendships y’all have but my closest friends are often closer than a lover or a family to me. I will always try to fight for them and our relationship, if I can. If I really consider someone a friend, I’m not going to just abandon them. The FL thought that Yuna truly was her best friend. So yeah sure, in the previous life she saw her bestie get with her crush. But when she came back to her past, she hoped that maybe something went wrong down the line and it’s something that can be avoided. I mean, if I knew my friend will become a bitter, horrible person and maybe I have a shot at preventing that, I would try to help, wouldn’t you? The plot was never about REVENGE, idk where you got it from. FL just wanted to live a better life. She tried, realized that her friend is hopeless and finally moved on from trying to save her. It was done in a very natural and true to human emotions way.
And her being confused about her feelings towards ML and the guy she had a crush on for YEARS is also kinda understandable. I feel bad for the ML too, it’s horrible to wait for someone’s answer. But you know, when you have a crush on someone you are friend with for years, it must be hard to catch the moment when the feeling of love turns into a simple attachment. It’s not that crazy for her to be confused.
Since he was on the verge of tears I really thought we are entering some angsty era. Meanwhile he really woke up (or more like didn’t sleep a wink) and went “if it wasn’t for my daddy, YOU would be my boss, so you either treat me as just a man despite my background or I will abandon my position to pursue you as an equal, you choose^^”
…So half of the story I suppose? Or more like about how it was resolved? I understand that picking up music as a career is an important decision. It’s just that for 20 chapters, and what seems like a few months/weeks in the story, we got almost nooo interactions between Ueno and Sato, just some miscommunication trope. And then it was all finished off with just one concert and some beach scene?
Sato shouldn’t feel like he has to choose music because he will loose his lover, if he doesn’t. And even though in the end, he chose music for music I guess, I still felt disappointed that he didn’t even admit his fears to his bf and get reassurance. More so, he was told he has to “work harder at music so Rotsu will wish to play for him”. If Sato’s doubts were so important, that it got dragged out for half of the story, it’s a pity that Ueno never even learned WHY Sato was so anguished about that choice. Especially that it all stems from past relationship trauma.
And there is another thing - after we were done with the side couples’ love stories (which I loved, not mad about them getting so much attention), I was hoping we will get to see some cosy moments of our main couple. Some people are complaining about the story being centered around Sato, and while I didn’t mind his role, I think that this feeling might come from the fact, that it feels like we didn’t really see much of ritsufuyu after they got together? They started to date and after that, they just became a side couple. And even when the plot centered back to them, they were apart and going through a poorly handled turmoil. I feel soooo unsatisfied~ Idk how to explain this feeling of something LACKING but even just the fact that we saw literally all of the couples getting intimate (even the ex ones), except from the main one. And I don’t mean it in a creepy or horny way, just that after all of those funny crickets thoughts, I was so curious about what’s the vibe going to be between them and how will Ritsu handle being less experienced.
Feels like at certain point I was just rushing through the chapters, waiting for this misunderstanding to be finished, and it never ended until the end of the whole story. So I didn’t really enjoy the story, waiting for SOMETHING to happen or get resolved, and then got disappointed, left with a “that’s it?” thought.
Not only did his family basically discard him as a political tool by marrying him off against his wishes (all just cause he was born second). They didn’t give a fuck when he was miserable but now that he actually started to love his wife and be happy about his fate - this is when they go “actually, don’t you want to divorce? she’s not useful anymore”. Like how much disrespect can you show your son? He had to sacrifice his life and love for this marriage and now you have the audacity to ask him if he just wants to dissolve it? He agonized over it and it’s THAT easy for you?
And after he ended up liking her, instead of supporting them both for somehow working it out, you choose to further prove to him how little you care about him? Sure, a war with a father-in-law is a bad PR but a woman is sold the moment she marries so she no longer has anything to do with that family. The best thing to do now would be to support your son and his wife so that they can withstand it with dignity. But instead you show them disrespect and undermine their position by indirectly bringing up divorce? Knowing what happens later it’s pissing me off even more.
Love how you phrased it. Although it isn’t highlighted, Killian’s empathy for Edith shines greatly when he sees her interact with her father. He isn’t entirely sure what’s going on, but he is able to read her body language to know that *something* is up. I imagine that it’s because he knows from feeling something similar himself.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Bastian either, I think he’s a toxic piece of trash too. BUT for a character with so much inner monologue - too many people don’t even make an attempt to understand his actions and end up feeling angry at him all the time.
Bastian is a bastard, but he’s not a character who is just a villain for the sake of being a villain, he’s not inherently evil. Weirdly, his fucked up actions have a reason behind them, and if you understand the emotion he feels and how he expresses this emotion in such a twisted way, it becomes interesting to watch. A dive into a psyche of a child who’s upbringing turned him into someone with emotional intelligence of a monster. And I think in order to enjoy reading this, a reader needs to try to understand him. Otherwise you are just watching a bad guy doing bad things and I can see how it’s not enjoyable.
Then again, I’m only speaking for a manhwa so far in which he didn’t do anything that atrocious yet. But if you’re a novel reader I guess it’s fair for you to hate him from the get go considering some spoilers I have read……
Bastian already has feelings in the novel but Odette betrayed Bastian by giving his secret/plans towards his father. Since Odette betrayed Bastian he wants his revenge by her giving birth/forcing her. Odette has miscarriage because of Bastian step mom, Odette lost his child and his dog. She leaves Bastian and went into hiding. Then Bastian search for her and wanna ask for her forgiveness/repentance for his wrong doing. (They did the bombayah during Bastian's visit) Then he went to war. Odette confess to him first through letter. She thought Bastian was dead.
It was because Bastian told Odette (when he was torturing her) that he will seek his revenge (for betraying him) by making her pregnant, remove her (Odette) rights as a mother to their child, and he (Bastian) will raise the child with Sardines. This obviously never happened tho because Odette had a miscarriage. However, even if she never had a miscarriage, his revenge plan will never happen. Why? Because he already cut ties with Sardines before he even knew about Odette's pregnancy and he was already planning to live peacefully with Odette which he plans to do after his (Bastian) revenge to his father.
…at chapter 5 rn, don’t really get why everyone hating on the first prince (ML?)
