It’s kinda weird. In chapter 4 there is this scene in which a white-haired man comes to meet her, about her appointment as a tutor. Now, in the official one it is translated that “even the grand duke who never cared, came to see me upon seeing the royal decree” or sth along the lines, not a direct quotation. And in the fan translation it was said that it was the butler who came to see her to inquire about her appointment. I thought it was a weird mistake to make but okay. But then, in ch6 the duke is wondering why she’s not around recently, and it seems like it’s his first time hearing that she left for the imperial palace? So it seems that fan translators were right after all lol. The official translator accidentally translated “butler” as “grand duke” huh

Lmao I usually don’t read translations comparing them back to back btw I’m just re-reading it and I was trying to decide whether I want to read the official translation or stick to the one I was used to.

So, let me get this straight. They have a very delicate mission, with only one chance to succeed, cause otherwise emperor would hide his tracks and accuse them all of treason. The last time she was snooping in the area, she was already found out by that head magician, so she knows it’s not save to appear there again - it’s like screaming “hey, I know something!”. The plan is due THIS day. She is literally to meet with ML in like hours or minutes. They already have their location set, so the best thing they can do is lay low, so that no one catches on that the crown prince is aware of emperor’s plan and that FL is working for him. And despite ALL OF THE ABOVE she goes “lemme just check that room real quick to see if nothing changed”? GIRL your appearance there is a thing, that may raise suspicion and cause them to change their plans. Where the fuck did she leave her brain? The story was progressing so well, why is she suddenly acting so dumb and out of character?

The previous skanlation group used the term Achtschwerz for the guards. I almost choked when I saw the sentence “They both were accepted in Auschwitz.” Help

MLs in these revenge type of manhwas always seem to suck the beauty out of ex boyfriends as the story progresses, help He didn’t look that bad before

I am very thankful to all the people who mentally prepared me that there are only a few chapters left but it still hurtss (8-8) In fact, I think I will be re-reading it RIGHT NOW, I’m not ready to part yet

Leo is a little, emotionally undeveloped brat, who should learn how to hide away his pride, and be honest with himself and the other person. His fault for acting all cocky and failing to make the other person appreciated.
And then there’s JJ - he seemed to just bottle everything up inside and be horrible at communicating his needs and boundaries, so I felt bad for him… but it seems like he just used sex as a way to relieve his frustrations, and at best it’s just low. I hate how normalized intimate aggression is in BL. Some people might be into it, sure, but that needs to be agreed upon beforehand, in this case he seemed to almost use sex as a form of violence idk. I know Leo asked for it, but that was so forceful it just felt wrong.
CONCLUSION - JUST TALK PLEASE.

Usually, when both characters are shitty, I always root for the woman, since I am a woman myself, and I can relate to her emotions better. But in this case, I don’t particularly like the MC, so weirdly, ML seems to be more sensible to me (even though he’s not exactly perfect either). I know they are both going to grow throughout the story, but it’s a nice change - to be frowning upon the female character rather than the male one. I don’t like her but I like how her character is flawed in a way that is believable, rather than a one-dimensional or villainous way.

Also, another thought, I wonder what people’s definition of cheating is? In the world there are people in open relationships, polyamorous or whatnot, so in my understanding, cheating is crossing a set boundary between two people who agreed on that boundary. She was semi-forced to enter an arranged marriage, had no love and no relationship with the ML, and seems like there weren’t any rules they set regarding lovers. So sure, on a formal level, she is a cheater, but not on an emotional one? At least not yet, since they still don’t have any relationship.

…and while I love the FL and the story, I feel no chemistry between the main leads at all. Love the crazy power couple dynamic but the romance just feels so~ forced? Or not even, more like non-existent. No passion at all. And I love the ML supporting whatever his wifey is up to but he is kinda completely useless to the plot? He never takes initiative with anything, doesn’t come up with any ideas of his own, isn’t good at romance either, has very little personality, he’s just kinda THERE. Idk if it’s a slowburn or just bad story writing at this point.

It’s been on my “to read” list for so long cause the proportions and character designs (especially in the earlier chapters) were so ridiculous, that I was convinced FL is gonna be the dumb, cute girl acting like a 12 years old, and the ML will be the cold toxic duke tm, BUT I am so pleasantly surprised!! They do fall a bit into that image, but they aren’t flat and one-dimensional, and their dynamic isn’t unnatural and ruled by cliches.

I love how we can get a feminine, a bit naive and sensitive FL, without turning her into a mindless doll with no opinions of her own, who just flows where the plot and other characters carry her. She can stand her ground when she has to, she has her own level of authority and she can communicate her feelings well.

I mean…. Apart from how dumb and oblivious they both still are about each other’s feelings but it doesn’t feel like dragging out the plot at all, they just both have their own fears and inner struggles, which is portrayed in quite a realistic way.

Such a gem hidden behind a very cliched characters design (hahah I mean, I do have a certain level of nostalgia towards those exaggerated features, but whenever I see them, I never expect an actual good story to be hidden behind that design)

1. An election for emperor’s chamblerman (or whatever it’s called) is going on in the political sphere. Duke Arzen (FLs father) is the main candidate, so FL figured out that some family is trying to undermine his foundation and get that position of power. Hence all the plotting.
2. Emilio, that guy who brought in a singer and stuck to FLs side, is just the pawn of a family that is trying to orchestrate it. He has a weak noble title and position but he has the money to support the plan. He spread those rumors about the duke planning treason in the high society (that was the real meaning behind the siren song), using the singer. But FL figured out that his position is too low to seek that sort of position, so there must be some family behind his actions and is determined to find the real orchestrator.
3. The last chapter we learn of a possible culprit. The prince and king talk about Mould’s family. The mother of a current head of the family (that freckled ginger’s) used to be the emperor’s lover. She caused some stir in the palace. Plus the current count Mould mentioned some disgraceful history between his father and the husband of the empresses lady in waiting. It’s not explained in detail yet, but it seems like the Mould family somehow caused its demise? Anyways, be it for revenge or for the power they seek, they are trying to orchestrate for the duke Arzen to fail and to get his position within the kingdom. Another thing that supports this theory is the fact that count Mould came to visit that lady of waiting with some children that he is sponsoring. Just like that singer who got sponsored.
4. Officially, ML was sent to the duke’s mansion to investigate the rumors of duke Arzen planning the treason. But the duke and the princes know it’s just to find the real culprit behind those rumors.
5. Side note but as you all remember from that story about the goddess and everything - the problem of the emperor’s bloodline is that they all go crazy for power because of the blessing that they get. They consider themselves superior because of the blessing and fall into belief that they are destined for power, when they should consider themselves to be people’s protectors. That’s why the first empress moved the blessing from the current crown prince, to the ML. To end the curse, the emperor must finally use his blessing for the people, instead of for his own gain and ML is people’s ruler, meanwhile his brother is hungry for power. The story made that contrast quite clear.
6. And this situation portrays it in a very interesting way. The whole treason accusation and this situation poses a threat for a civil war. The emperor didn’t explain his plan to the crown prince and instead told him, that he should be able to understand his intentions as a chosen child. The crown prince believes, that the emperor wants duke Arzen to find the real culprit and eliminate him as a loyal dog. And if he fails to do that, then it mens he isn’t useful for the emperor’s power. So he thinks of it in terms of - who will make my power as an emperor stronger and who is useless to me so I can eliminate him. When in reality, the emperor is concerned about the peace of the kingdom. So we see how ML is better suited for the crown because he figured out his father’s real intentions. He doesn’t want to test his loyal subject. He is concerned that someone in the kingdom wields a power thar might threaten the peace. Because if one of the pillars supporting the emperor’s power fails, the people who will die underneath that falling foundation, are civilians. AKA: crown prince is worried about keeping his power and a true ruler should be worried about what will happen to the people if his power is undermined.
