They’re both obsessed with each other. They were unlucky that in beginning there were both in universe where their counterparts hated the other. At least now the Emperor came into the universe where Adryssa is obsessed and in love with him. I mean they’re both willing to kill others that get in the way of their love. The Emperor killing people close to Empress and those that helped her get away from him, while she killed all his mistresses and killed all his siblings so he can be Emperor.
