I think it's quite realistic. In other isekais the MC grows a backbone and that is enough for the abusers to stop. Like she just answers back and everyone stays in shock not doing anything. IRL even if you drop the baddest line ever, if abusers have power over you, they won't stop. She is being rightfully careful. She stopped her mother in law from hitting her and ended up on an attic, locked up and humiliated.
