Hyunwoo is totally right. The agency doesn’t care about their talent’s safety? They value their PR over actual privacy? Okay then! Your talent isn’t going to prioritize your money over their physical and mental health!
Yes an idol should have a bond with their agency, but fundamentally it’s an employment relationship. It’s an employee’s right to go on strike and protest if their needs are not being addressed. I’m glad this series is covering the topic, so hopefully more fans will understand why kpop idols take such drastic actions and not blame them.
The second part is funny because just recently an idol getting bullied by her agency was dismissed and was told she’s not considered an employee under the Korean law so even tho there was proof of bullying they can’t do anything to help her. Korea’s law is trash lol. Idols aren’t seeing as human beings even within law
Juhan and Hyunwoo cooperating to protect their guys is so important. Yeah the good cop/bad cop 4
routine is really funny, but it also shows the company that Chronos is united. None of them are happy about this, and if they take action as a group, the company can’t pin it on a scapegoat.
Like, it really sucks that it had to get to this point, but Chronos has set that boundary that this is unacceptable management and the precedent that they are willing to make public moves to protect themselves. Fingers crossed this doesn’t have to happen again.
(Side note: I believe their current managers are genuinely trying to help, but it’s that classic middle management problem where their hands are tied. This isn’t ALWAYS true but it’s better for idols when their managers are willing to try.)
