This chapter really made me realize how much I love their dynamic. It really feels like they both help each other and it’s not one-sided at all. The older guy is so understanding and always knows what to say, and the younger guy helps him break out of his shell and break away from what’s ‘normal’. They’re both so good for each other. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out!!
Damn this story is GOOD.
I’m hoping the resolution for her and her brother is that he takes the throne, but he carries out her plans and her ideas that will benefit the people of their empire. Because she’s gotten to the point where all she cares about is helping people and being happy, so I don’t think it’s necessary for her to be on the throne in order to accomplish that, especially when her brother is so supportive and believes in her. She could achieve everything she wants from the shadows, and I think she would be happy with that as long as people are getting the help they need.
not really? I didn’t mean to say she should completely run the country from the shadows through him…I meant that he could employ the specific plans she has in mind, like social benefits/disability and charities. There’s still a million decisions that he’d be making every day as emperor that have nothing to do with her. Other than that I could see her giving him advice when he needs it maybe but I really didn’t mean that he’d be a ‘puppet emperor’
This still reminds me of novel's/manhwa where dowager queen has her son as an Emperor but she still runs everything in the shadows, And we all hate such characters. I love the brother & sister but I would still prefer Dorothy get over her traumas of past life and rise again as an Emperor. But that's just my wishful thinking.
isn’t the prince the kind of character who would WANT to implement charities and benefits for the less fortune people though?? What’s the harm in accomplishing that using some of her plans? Whatever works, works. Like I said, I’m not trying to say that he’d running things by her or anything. He would just be helping her accomplish her dream of the people living without discrimination. And I disagree that she should be emperor, if she did that then it’d feel like she’s had no character growth. She doesn’t WANT to have power anymore, what she wants is for the kingdom to have peace. She doesn’t have to be on the throne to help that become reality.
Imagine being dorothea, having to chase her dream of being the emperor by herself in her first life, when her life was just filled with hatred and loneliness and made her do bad things. Now getting a second chance, damned terrified of turning into her past self, yet still have to make decisions for the future of the empire, while the credit goes to her brother. It's just sad isn't it?
I don’t think so. I think it would go to show her character growth. In the past she cared about having authority and being the empress, but now she just wants to make the world a better place. I think she would gladly not be credited for her contributions if it meant the kingdom was progressing towards being a non-discriminatory place. She doesn’t want recognition and authority anymore. Maybe we as the audience would be sad about it, but I don’t she would. She’d still get all the praise she deserves from the people who matter the most to her (her brother, stephen, the maid, etc.), and I think that would make her happy.
That’s how I interrupt her character, anyway.
Nah man, that's just too cruel. Every hardworks deserve to be recognized. She has worked very hard in her past life, and there were only 2 people who saw it, her brother who died by her hands, and ethan. Her hardworks deserves to be recognized, dorothea deserves to be recognized. I'm not saying she has to be the emperor, It's just putting her into that position would be like saying that she has never had a place under the spotlight. She could be seen without being an emperor, she could has any position and still gets all the credits. Besides, it isn't necessary to only have the main character who's growing. Her brother could have a character growth too, by being able to make decisions (that might make dorothea proud) by himself, without the aid of dorothea
now that is a fair point. It’s hinted that he doesn’t even want the throne but I think we still have more to go with his character. Definitely sensing a character arc for him coming up so I guess we’ll see how he feels. My opinion would completely turn around if he wholeheartedly tries step aside for her be empress (IF that’s even possible. Usually him dying would be the only way)
i’m not quite caught up yet but i’m at chapter 95 and these comments and reviews are completely off. She’s very proactive and strong and smart. Most of her moments of weakness are because she was literally neglected and abused for her entire past life. I’m convinced you guys read like 5 chapters and immediately started talking shit. It’s a good story, definitely worth reading!
Okay, she obviously didn’t do the right thing. She should’ve tried to save her son. But…I think it’s important to recognize that she WAS a victim and her trauma heavily influenced her actions. She should’ve done better by him, but it’s obvious her actions weren’t done maliciously and she genuinely regrets them. Soooo personally I’m hoping that they can re-connect. Still, he has every right to decide to stay in contact with her or cut her off; I just hope whatever choice he makes is the one that brings him the most closure.
On a side note, loving the moral complexity of this story-line. It’s very realistic. I do think some of these comments are a bit too black and white, like one extreme or the other, but what can you do?
