So, if they already started the redemption arc/healing as you say, the story would have been over 20 episodes ago. But what's the fun in that? Authors give us these (yes unnecessarily) long-ass stories to keep us hooked, and while we'll be ripping our hairs out in the process, they're entertaining and give us something to look forward to (becauuse we WILL come back for more).
