the official translations are really helpful in getting reminders of why things are going the way they are - the reason why euihyun’s hurt by taeju is the debt not being cleared off & it wasn’t cleared off because taeju thought this was the only thing tying their relationship together (so he didn’t try as hard to catch the father earlier); or else euihyun can leave him whenever if the debt is gone. ofcourse he’s regretting/repenting now, but he really should confess all this to euihyun
And the repentance mygosh! Taeju's not the asshole who did not know he was an asshole, he KNEW what he was doing as early as chapter 40s when he realized his feelings. Its just that he was in between a rock and a hard place, he has no confidence he can make Euihyun stay without this debt binding him, and so he was scared to let the debt go.
