the story was very poorly written and sensitive topics were handled very problematically. the events in the story were put together too conveniently and don’t make sense, like when they hosted that giveaway for the couple in the longest relationship at the creators event and how jimin and hyunwoo suddenly get married despite having close to no buildup on their relationship throughout the entire story. the fact that jimin is in love with hyunwoo makes almost no sense because they barely have any meaningful interactions other than all the times jimin has to practically babysit hyunwoo for his mental problems. the ending makes no sense; hyunwoo can’t just fall in love with jimin after jimin gives him a short “heartwarming” speech, especially since he’s been so attached to jihye the entire story and he isn’t shown to have worked towards proper recovery at all (suddenly changing all at once for a convenient ending). the way the story handled issues such as lgbt+ discrimination was very problematic as well. it said that those in same-sex relationships wish they were the other gender, but now this is venturing into transgender territory. people in same-sex relationships don’t necessarily wish they were the other gender just because they’re oppressed by society for their sexual orientation. in fact, gender identity and sexual orientation are two separate topics and aren’t tied together as directly as they are depicted to in this story. on top of that, transgender people don’t just “wish” they were a different gender; to put it simply, they are born with a gender identity that does not match their assigned sex at birth. transitioning is not something that a person does just because they want to, so it’s very wrong of the story to suggest that someone could simply transition just so that they could be in a relationship that fits into social norms, because that is a whole other subject. these kinds of stories perpetuate problems related to understanding those who are part of the lgbt+ community, because they spread so much misinformation about sensitive issues. i hope the writer will educate themselves better on these subjects and not create such a problematic (and poorly written) story ever again. there are multiple other problems with the writing, like how there are many unresolved conflicts, unanswered questions, and so on, but i’ll spare it.
