Ok so basically after ellen, freya + others witness her brother kiss her, and ellen orders everyone to stay silent for the time being;

Ruby skips dinner under the pretense of feeling ill. She spends the rest of the day laying in her bed, feeling empty after being SA. We can see that she slowly “drifts off to sleep” (shes not sleeping, she just feels like she is) and is slowly spiraling while in the garden izek made for her.

Ellen finds her there in her unstable state. Ruby mistakenly thinks its a dream and doesnt hide herself under a happy facade anymore.

She laughs and says “no one is asking me. No one is asking me what happened.” And continues on to say that it doesnt matter since thats how its always been.

Ruby spots mushrooms that look similar to frost mushrooms, which are known to help heal sick monsters. She grabs the mushroom and rubs it on her lips like a lipbalm, trying to purify herself, saying that shes also a monster. She felt contaminated because her brother yk.

Ellen stops her and says that the ‘dirt’ (referring to cezare) is already gone from her lips and that she doesnt need to do that. But ruby doesnt believe her.

Rubys inner dialogue in this scene is soo sad. Shes in genuine disbelief and revolt and says “it would have been better if that was just acting for the people spying on us” (she now realizes that cezare actually likes her romantically

-and ruby questions how cezare could do that to her.

It takes a little bit of convincing (as much as you can actually convince an unstable person) from ellen for ruby to believe the dirt cezare left was gone. But once shes ‘convinced’ she says that has to go meet him (izek) now.

Ellen tells her to wait until tomorrow, to endure until after the championship thing is over. To which ruby replies “but im not going to be here tomorrow.”

Ellen, obv shocked, asks her what she means. Ruby looks to the sky and says “im going there. Going there and meeting my sister sounds great.. but i dont know if ill succeed. Can you help me, ellen?”

After she says this she falls asleep in Ellens arms. Ellen hugs her and carries ruby on her back inside. As ellen is tiptoeing around she walks past her fathers office(?)/study and he sees them.

Thats all ill spoil now since thats just the upcoming chapters ~~ but if u have more questions feel free to ask. Also this scene is soo sad.. i can imagine that ellen was getting flashbacks of her mother while listening to ruby again. Huu
