It's pretty mediocre from what I've read imo. Like the setting doesn't lend itself to much exploration because of how confined it is. I actually don't find it that cringe which probably says a lot about me, but it's def not that great of a subgenre.

Lol I do get the cringiness of it, it's just the actual manga are kind of boring compared to the concept. It's an explanation of the setting similar to how some omegaverse manga will have an explanation page at the beginning.
Also yeah the terms being used are very stupid lol. It's pretty funny to read them calling each other cake and fork though.

I actually have not read that one, I meant to link to the explanation page since I had it saved. It's definitely an outlier because the ones I've read usually mean sexual stuff when talking about "eating" rather than eating human flesh. Cannibalism is pretty out there for such a cute cover though, sorry for the jumpscare

It was definitely funny to see him forgive so fast lol, well things were not exactly serious but they had a lot of differences due to the age gap and seme was selfish, i guess they both matured in their own way and then got together again, anyways it's frustrating to sit through the first 30 chapters of misunderstanding lol but i just loveee older ppl so I still enjoyed it to an extent lol.

The comedy comes from the later parts absurdity and camp of the series as it earnestly believes that what's going on is logical and makes sense and is cool and awesome. Like yeah sure fine let that guy hide a bird in womans mouth after kissing her as a battle strategy, yeah sure the captain of the boat is an evil genuis orangutan that smokes, yeah sure there's a part in the story where there's jesus and a t-rex. Alongside the battles which are treated more like a puzzle that was made after some guy read wikipedia page. Dio makes a disappearance for a while before returning and then he comes back at some point. Dio is a mega bitch that you wanna see get punched in the face and he does do worse if keep watching. If you do not get along with the general absurd wacky camp that comes later on don't force yourself. Most people skip the first season as it is weaker than the others in terms of comedy and fights and the Jo of the season being just the goodest of good boys which made people think he was kinda boring.



spoilers for the end of season 1 fight finish the season before scrolling (this is an early example of the "puzzle" fights that come later on)































Like in the final battle Dio uses ice magic on himself to not die and the answer to this battle is for Jo to light his hand on fire and cut his head off with a flaming hand.

Yeah chief it's a comedy but also a campy drama/ adventure story and the author loves the drama that leads to the fights. They don't do jokes traditionally it's more the WTF of everything going on thats supposed to make you laugh as everyone is taking everything seriously while bullshit is going on like for example one fight they have later on where they have to fight a baby and they play it straight the whole time.
