The most recent chapters are actually a sequel to the main story that follows the side couple and the wolves they met later in the story. They also play a decent size role on the main story so that's why we see them a lot

The side couple is intertwined with the main couple since bexan and leto are wolfshifters.

I believe their families are also connected but it's been so long since the main story and side story, I forgot about bexan's past
