Usually, I don’t like plots that firstly have some form of incest and secondly a huge age gap. However, in this case, I feel conflicted because I can see why the older cousin likes Masaki (though not justified AT ALL!). I feel like it’s not a child that he liked but rather the validation and solace he found in Masaki’s innocent cheers for continuing to exist. Instead of liking a child, it was more of Masaki’s unawareness of the struggles of life once you enter adulthood and thinking that having a job is the biggest possible thing for an individual (which inevitably comes with being young). I feel like Haru would have maybe liked anyone who would have believed in him and cheered him to keep going, like Masaki did for him. Haru’s self loathing and self depreciating nature just needed someone who can offer him kind words, hence why he displaced all these emotions and feelings onto his younger cousin.
