All I can say is, if you’re planning to drop the manhwa because of wtv reason, DON’T! It’s your typical slow burn story and it’ll get a lot better in the next few chapters I promise !!
The emperor will slowly regain his memories of his past life as well and he’ll be aware of the horrible things (crushing MC’s foot, killing birds for the MCs, lots of bloodshed in the palace, giving him aphrodisiac that’s like drug and made the MC a mad person etc.) he did to the MC that is seemingly “out of love”. With the regained memories, the current life emperor promised the MC that he’ll change his ways and not make history repeat itself because he genuinely doesn’t want the MC to suffer again. And the emperor pines so hard for the MC you can’t help but feel sorry for him every time he gets rejected
