also sometimes i just studied for 10 hours straight that also works but u probably have to meet a deadline

when I was still in highschool I've never study but when I got to 12 grade. I knew if I didn't take it seriously my ass was done for.I don't have good attention span too but you really need to tell yourself that you'll do it or you'll be jobless because it will really help motivate you.i usually study for like 1 to 2 hour a day only but you can go for 30 min.You can study for like 30 min in the morning and when you're free in the afternoon you can do another 30 min and at night you can just skim over what you study or just study one time only. Don't try to go for 5-6 hour it'll just stress you out.

As *big gay* said, try pomodoro!

It's studying "technique" that consist of studying for 25 minutes and resting for 5 (and 15 breaks every so often) and repeating in /25-5/25-5/ blocks.

For example if you study for 3 hours you will do 5 pomodoros (taking in account a long 15 break)

What I do is start small, just open the page of the textbook (or whatever you have to do) and I try to read for 5 then 5 minutes of rest, then 10 more and so on until I don't fell any friction anymore.

    Other tips:

    1) try to be in a quiet space, and somewhere you won't fall asleep (never ever study in bed!!!)

    2) Take any distractions and make them disappear just ver inconvenient to reach for (as in leaving your phone on mute and placing it on a high place).

    3) When taking a break do. not. do. anything. else!
You can take a snack, do some stretches, listen to some music but do not occupy yourself to much. If you open any tabs to be on social media you will never do "just five minutes".

    4) take notes and don't leave your questions for unanswered, if you don't understand something is best to research for an answer right away, what I often do is write a small comprehensive note about it to reach for when I forget about it in 5 minutes.

    5) Kinda similar to the other one, every few 25 5 sessions take a moment to annotate what you remember in your head in clear and simple words, not only does it makes reviews easier than just reading from the source itself it also helps seeing your blind spots more clearly!

    Qwertyer July 7, 2025 8:59 pm

Forgot to add but you can also make it 15-5 lol is not any fixed time
For me pomodoro is just a away to track how many I have studied and I often ignore the rest time or making the longer, but having an structure to fall onto helps me to keep consecrated in the long run.

What matters is that you learn, you don't really have to sit for 5 hours to do that if you go and do something every 30 it doesn't matter if you comprehend and retain the info at the end!

Also try any different methods, reading can be really tiring for my baby eyes, so I often use videos or audio when I want to learn anything new.
And instead of notes you can make maps with concepts or flashcards to review at the end or every day just making study more fun or just comfortable to YOU makes a big difference!!

Tips and trick won't matter twin if you start enjoying what you're studying then your attention span will be automatically fixed.

If you own a laptop. Put the timer on for focus mode it helps. I do 25 mins focus and 15 minute break for like 5 sessions ( for my job) . And if my friend is online thru discord i call them asking if they can help me lock in. But its just total silence and occasional speaking (i can do 2 hours of session like this)

The discord method is very effective . But yeah you need a buddy for that.. study buddies really saved adhd me, having someone study with you is the best motivator. Especially if you are a bit competitive or easily pressured

One thing that helps me as a certified ADHDer is to study outside of my bedroom. I get easily distracted if I’m in my room, so I force myself to study somewhere like the kitchen table or even outside the house.

i use the 1 hour, 45, 30, 20 rule. study for that amount of time and then take a 5-15 minute break but reward yourself. i buy like chocolate kisses and eat them after the time is up and it makes me want to finish the time since i want the chocolate. it also helps me study and not feel so awful about it since there’s a reward at the end

    Good luck!!
But still don't overdo it, it's good to have time to enjoy yourself without thinking about studying. Even just 40 minutes were you do nothing can be very beneficial!
