It’s just fiction. Fiction allows people to explore the taboo in a safe environment where no one is facing the consequences. It elicits a cathartic feeling which is exciting and that is why people read these kinds of works.

That’s what I’m saying, you say it’s “just fiction” but stuff like this does happen. This is just fuel for people who fetishized it in the worst ways. You’re acting like these fictional characters are real. They’re not.

No one is denying that this kind of stuff does happen in real life, but I will remind you that this story and the characters’ traits are purposely exaggerated for the purpose of exciting storytelling that bears no resemblance to reality.

I also want to remind you that I clearly said it’s a fetish, yes I know they are exaggerated. They clearly made the person who got raped essentially gets reduced down to nothing but “a dumb slut” or “asking for it” after something horrible happened to him, then he had to live with person because he’s playing the part. The first couple chapters literally had him crying after what happened in the bathroom, look I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be any rape or sensitive topics in any stories. The last thing I want to talk on this website is my own experience about this topic but this is just clear blatant fetish and lacks respect towards Mc. Yes, this story is definitely a fetish. And there’s no inherent problem with that. You don’t need to give “respect” to a fictional character’s fictional situation of abuse. I will reiterate that no one is being harmed. If someone happens to read this story and gets triggered, they can simply click off the page.

It’s not about the aspects of triggering, I’m not triggered that there’s rape, maybe some people do but the problem is that this is a fetish story, it’s about desensitizing people for one: didn’t experience this kind of abuse and believing fetishizing something that is psychologically damaging is hot and two: decreases your empathy and affect your mindset.

Don’t worry! A lot of people in my life know about this side of me, and we’re all friends! And I don’t feel any sort of compulsion to act in the way that these fetishised stories show, because I can differentiate between fiction and reality — I am mentally mature and intelligent enough to do so. Other people aren’t and I do recognise that (as you mentioned with people becoming desensitised), but there’s a reason that these stories are 18+. They’re not meant for mentally immature people who struggle to draw a line between the fictional and the real, and can potentially A) become desensitised B) have their mentality affected.

I definitely agree with you. Stories like this contain content warnings and if it’s triggering for anyone then they should do the right thing for their mental state and click away from it.
