its generally cute; the last few chapters are good, but definitely not for everyone.
TL;DR repetitive and overusing the trope at the start so it was difficult to enjoy, but decent confession scene.
i mean, yeah, their dynamic is interesting, but it's definitely not for people who doesnt like pathetic character with negative respect for boundaries. and definitely not for someone who can't handle secondhand embarrassment.
i thought of dropping it and removing it from my want-to-read list, but chances are i'll meet this series again and be disappointed twice. i dont really wanna put it on my already-read bc its not horrible enough to be dropped. powered through to the end.
ig golden retriever seme x black cat uke trope is common and interesting, but the way they were written was too much. the seme is too clingy while the uke is too distance. the seme has negative braincell and it's curious how he was explained as good at his work, but at the same time all he did was messed everything up. and then there's him being a nosy ass in uke's home, checking everything as if he owns the house and BREAKING HIS COLLECTION????? yeah, by accident, but the accident could be prevented if he wasnt nosy. i cant look past that. and then he visited uke's house without notice on a weekend where all uke planned to do was resting ijbol. if a coworker visited me on my day off without notice i would kms tbh. honestly, it's bc i relate a lot to the uke in terms of boundaries, so i really cant see anything good about the seme. esp when uke kept saying "you and i aren't compatible" but ofc the seme didnt listen to that! but ig being thickheaded is a plus for him bc he got him in the end. its a given that the uke chose the seme in the end, meaning that he was able to see something good about him (well, ig having someone constantly clings on you and say shit like ily will affect you). but i wasnt the uke so i cant say the same lol.
also saw someone preaching about how "you guys like SAs but hate cute series like this!" when the first time they had sex was literal SA with how much the uke begged the seme to stop and begged him to use a condom and not cum inside.... but ig thats not SA to yall!! and it was even worse bc that scene happened right after uke was SA'd by ANOTHER CHARACTER????? i cant even read any sex scene after that one lol literally skipped them all bc that pathetic first sex was literally ingrained in my brain. it wasnt about a virgin who was bad at sex, it was about a guy who never had any sex education and is too selfish to listen to his partner's likes and dislikes even when the partner is very vocal about the likes and dislikes. he didnt even need to guess whether the uke enjoyed it or not; the uke practically screamed about all that during sex ans yet the seme acts like a wild animal in heat who cant stop himself. and ntm the uke himself harrassed the seme to have sex with him so many times at the start, practically touching him anywhere like he owns the dick. neither is cute btw !
well, there are some good parts like when the seme came to rescue the uke from that creepy bartender, or when the seme works hard and when seme work hard, and the confession scene was good but that's that. uke is really cute too if that adds to anything... but then again uke is too distance while the seme is too demanding lol. and then all of a sudden we learned why the uke is so distant? it felt like a really last minute addition bc there wasnt anything that hinted that his behavior was developed through trauma. couldnt even really tell what made the uke fell for the seme too; it felt crammed at the end with that jealousy plot rather than developing in the story and all. yeah, there were a few blushes and all, but there wasnt any pinpoint where it just felt he was finally really falling in love.
i bet there's even more development in the side stories, but i really cant be bothered to read. cant invest any more time for them. basically 2/3 of the total chapters are too slow, repetitive, and dumb that by the time things get interesting, i already ran out of energy to even care.
anyways, TL;DR if you enjoy half the story being silly dumb seme that all of a sudden turned mature by the end of the series, and you can handle the comedy trope, then you'll surely enjoy it.
i love it so much. they're SOOOO CUTE. maeda's anxiety and constant overthinking moments hit close to home, so even though it was frustrating, i cant even blame him. im just glad that yagii was able to communicate and push him to open up. maeda is really adorable rrraaahhhh who ruined my babys self-esteem!?
the way they both communicate is so mature without extending unnecessary drama. i like their progression; its neither too fast nor too slow. a mature, relaxed pace of adults falling in love and coming to term with their feelings. also amamiya's expressions are done so nicely and sometimes he looks so hot and mischievous.... people died
it was SO GOOD!!!!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF MY LIFE!!!!!! the way they made me feel love yet feel choked up at the same time... the anxiety lyle felt... the uncertainty.... everything felt close to home and it made my chest tightened. i love how sweet ash is to lyle. i love how adorable lyle is, despite the harsh upbringing. i love how their feelings developed slowly, in a way that felt natural and flowed nicely. god i love them so much. and the art is so good and the sex is so juicy im tearing up and drooling
the pace was weird. there were unnecessary parts (that homophobic homosexual son) and then there were parts that got rushed (after that scandal). cant think of a single good character outside, prolly, the main couple ig. everyone is just so hypocritical, including that girl. god even the bad people didnt get any reprecussion they deserved. like what is going on. the main plot line is really interesting and good but GOD that was horrible execution.
why did they make seryeon as yoona's bf at first? like whats the point of her accepting his confession and "dated" him for 6 MONTHS only to spend most of the time putting him in anxiety by telling him they'll break up AND causing him to misunderstand her own brother as her ex. straight up weird and creepy. and still got the gall to tell him she'll "help him stop being the bad guy" !?!?!?!?!?!? pot calling the kettle black or what.
and when it started to get interesting, it ended lol.
cw // spoiler (cant edit my comment and add the spoiler tag HELP)
the timeline also makes zero sense. the first chapter, the confession clearly was the one happening in 25-26 (shown from the same jacket he wore and the wound on his hand) but then in the same chapter 1, yoojin monologued that "he's my sister's boyfriend" even tho they broke up a while before. the timeline just doesnt add up. not very well executed, to be honest. like if a series is made in a free platform and the author posted each chapter before finishing the whole story and didnt check the backlog for any inconsistency.
and oh, god, finding out why seryeon asked yoona out... that's so fucking stupid and esp when yoojin asked her about it and she said "i just found out, but i didnt say anything to him lol it's more interesting" irks me bc it just feels like she has so little respect for seryeon and only think of him as an interesting puppy. idk im definitely reading too much into things! but god she was so annoying half of the story.
