Thinking about it, I realize that this is a Regency romance novel. The reasons I think this are too numerous to completely list here (The jist being: a smart, well ordered, perfect man is suddenly overrun by a scheming, yet, well meaning young lady whom he, at first, thinks of as merely craz... 'interesting'). However, thinking about the plot... it's straight out of a Georgette Heyer book. It's a good thing, I always liked those books, but somehow the idea is... shocking, I guess.
For crying out loud, even if he IS visiting this woman for purely innocent reasons, he should understand his position enough to realize that he should NOT visit ANY woman at her house, alone. Any retribution that falls on his head will be well justified.
