Yes, it’s from the novel. Crown Prince is more into dancing. He never liked horseback riding, hunting and other outdoor sports. Also, Carcel is always seen as more outstanding than him even by Ines herself when she was engaged or married to the crown prince. She said Carcel at 14 made ‘my Oscar’ who should be the best man in the world, look mediocre. She even talks about understanding the complicated feelings Carcel’s aunt, the empress, experiences when she sees her outstanding nephew compared to her son, Oscar.
Artist does indeed seem to draw all the men better but she draws the majority of young woman as plain looking, which is sad because there are beautiful women in the novel.
