The 9.5 rating was the biggest catfish I've seen in awhile. I can't take this story seriously. The plot is inconsistent, the characters are annoying as hell, and there are ZERO attempts at making any situation realistic. I understand it being comedy, but aiming for a continuous flow of second-hand embarrassment inducing situations is everything but funny.
I stuck it out for the ratings but now I'm upset I even wasted my time lmfao.
I know there's the theory of All For One being Deku's dad going around, and I just wanted to say that it's actually a pretty realistic theory. For one, it would add to the duality between Shigaraki and Deku: Shigaraki, from a hero family, becoming a villain, and Deku, from a villain family, becoming a hero. Can y'all imagine the internal dilemma Deku would be facing if he were to end up being the son of a villain? Moreover, the blood relation would explain why Deku can do what All Might couldn't - forming connections with the past users of OFA. Him being directly related to the original user of OFA and AFA would allow him to do things that All Might (and the past users) couldn't do. I'm hoping this theory ends up being true only so it would explain Deku's multi quirk ability (because the whole 'power boiling over' reason seems far too convenient for this manga).
To be honest I don't really care about cliché as long as it is a good execution, bnha has lots of cliches but I love the way the story has been told.
There are thousands and thousands of stories being told, it is no surprise when things doesn't surprise us as easily as when we were younger.
An example would be Dabi's reveal, I think most of the fandom was expecting it, it was mostly a matter of the WHEN, but I still absolutely loved chapter 290 Dabi's Dance, you could see just how broken he became and even more in the next chapters.
For anyone who's read the raws, I roughly translated the conversation between MC and the director in chapter 18:
After coming into the room and touching the cum (for whatever godforsaken reason), the director talks to MC about preparing to shoot the next part of the reality show. Right before he opens the door, he looks at MC and says, "So, which one did you do it with?" (Which is why MC was so shocked). Then he says, "Ah, or was it both?" The director leaves, and Yohan (who's outside) asks him if its fun teasing an innocent person. Yohan then asks the director what he's going to do and the director responds with "I don't know".
I've literally been binging the novel since it was recently fully translated (except for a couple extras) and I didn't know about this?! Also the novel is amazing. I haven't been this attached to a BL couple since reading MDZS. It's a beautiful blend of comedy, tragedy, character growth, and slow burn.
I just wanted to take a minute and GUSH about the art. And not about the character designs, but the backgrounds. The palace interior was drawn very beautifully. The layouts make me feel as if I can actually envision the settings, instead of giving me a vague idea of where the characters are. The consistent attention to detail and background is something to be appreciated.
The second season was a lot more interesting than the first, but the amount of things that happen by "coincidence" are so annoying. This was a good read, but I'm too frustrated to actually enjoy the fights without waiting for the conclusion.
