He went and came back I believe. The plane comment is just a way of mc saying he has fallen for ml and there's no point of return just like how you go on a plane and it goes to its destination

It was just one of the few subtle scenes showing how far the ML will go to be with MC. Even if it means he will only get few hours of sleep before work, he will do it if it means having time with MC. You will better understand this as the story progress. Nothing the ML did was useless tbh. Esp because he's someone that's so logical and no nonsense.
