You honestly can’t blame him tho. If you put yourself in his shoes, you can understand why he took up the offer. He literally is broke, unemployed, his son is sick, and the medicine is costly. He listened to those manipulation, because the ml didn’t even tell him anything. If there’s someone who’s stupid here, it would be the ml.
