here’s my theory based on dan's symptoms and behaviour :
1. REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD)
This one feels really plausible. RBD causes people to physically act out their dreams, sometimes violently or dangerously. Since Dan’s been sleepwalking frequently and even ended up near the ocean, this fits. RBD is often triggered or worsened by intense stress, anxiety, or trauma — all of which Dan’s drowning in right now.
2. Sleep Apnea (with severe side effects)
His gasping for air during sleep screams sleep apnea, which can cause extreme fatigue, memory issues, and emotional instability. Combined with alcohol (which worsens apnea) and constant stress, Dan’s body might be hitting its limit.
3. Parasomnia Disorder (Complex Sleepwalking)
Since Dan’s been sleepwalking multiple times a night, this could be a severe form of parasomnia — a sleep disorder where people unconsciously perform complex activities during sleep. Stress, depression, and alcohol can all make it worse, which tracks with Dan’s situation.
4. Depression-Induced Psychosomatic Symptoms
His body could be manifesting his emotional pain physically. Depression can cause insomnia, fatigue, and even subconscious self-destructive behavior like his dangerous sleepwalking episode.
My Best Guess:
Honestly, I feel like it’s a combo of RBD + Sleep Apnea, heavily triggered by his depression, stress, and alcohol abuse. The fact that he nearly walked himself into the ocean suggests something serious, like his subconscious mind literally acting out his inner turmoil.
I'm reading the novel now and OMG GRAYSON MILLER (chase's borther) IS A FU*KING PIECE OF SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! THE MAN IS PSYCHOOO!!!!! HE'S EVEN DOWN TO FUCK HIS OTHER OMEGA BROTHER BECAUSE A HOLE IS A HOLE?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! I hope he meets his demise by the end of the novel D:(
