when i said it was a turnoff in comics, i was referring purely to my personal reading preferences—nothing more. Just like some people don’t enjoy certain tropes, this one just doesn’t resonate with me emotionally. it’s not about judging the people behind the stories, it’s about the way the trope is often portrayed or used in some works.

that said, i realize that my wording could’ve come across as dismissive or ignorant, and i would like to apologize for that.

to add… I fully meant it when I said I have nothing against it. It’s just an emotionally uncomfortable topic for me to read in fiction, especially when they involve the characters being forced into it, portrayed primarily through trauma, with little personality or choice in what happens to them. It doesn’t mean I drop the story entirely nor i’d say it “ruined” the story. I simply just skip over those parts and continue reading.
