I don't mind her being considered ugly even though she looks normal to us, since that's a entirely another "world" and culture. My problem is the freckles being too overused, come on, let's be creative:

Use weirdly shaped eyes/eyelashes, unique hair color, visually horrible scars/spots, round noses, small or big lips (you choose which is considered ugly in your story), etc...

At this point, even I'm cheering for the musketeer and necromancer's classes to get better stats
