It’s the fact that people act as if Carcel did the worst thing ever while actively ignoring Ines’s flaws and acting like she’s the sole victim. Her trauma isn’t an excuse to hurt others, period.

While Carcel did sleep around, he never consented to the engagement, now if he did when he consented to the MARRIAGE as an adult, I’d be mad. Mind you Ines was a grown woman during the time she forced the engagement, she was mentally.

Ines has developed a lot so I don’t and never actually did hate her. She’s a great morally gray character imo. I feel like people just focus on one thing instead of the whole story.

Sexually assaulted Emiliano on their first night. The scene where he was crying. It’s more graphic in the novel and how her vagina was bleeding as she forced her way. Emiliano eventually accepted it and next day he said he’s in love with her despite only meeting her first time. Other than that they’ve NEVER had any interactions. And Ines only felt guilt, never love. In fact she missed the horse riding more than what she had with Emiliano. It wasn’t truly love she had with Emiliano. That’s why she said she never wants to cross paths with the person she hurt.

As I mentioned before, we don’t really call it sexual assault. Yes, she trespassed in his room completely naked and seduced him but he gave in to lust. So at worse we put it as dubious consent. He didn’t initially consent to it but then gave in to his lust. At least with Carcel and Ines everything was consensual and crystal clear.

Don't worry I am not ignoring her flaws . As I said I view both of them as flawed individuals but victim of their circumstances . They have come a long way so I wanna see them happy more than anything rather than the past holding them back . Even though her past trauma doesn't justify her behavior I feel most people are sympathetic towards her because of her first awful awful life specially thus focusing more on Carcel's flaws rather than her . The manhwa gave me the impression that they were hopeless romantics or something who just didn't think about their relationship all the way through about handling everything. I was rooting for them to meet at one point . So does he remember the previous lifetime too? Do they meet later ?

It’s not rape but I do still think it’s sexual assault because if Emiliano hadn’t expected that and wasn’t consenting at first, it’s still sexual assault if Ines laid her hands on him and showing up naked, and with the thoughts to do something with him without prior communication.

No. They don’t meet. Ines has no desire to meet him but manhwa keeps covering that up. After her near-death experience, Ines says it again. She says it repeatedly throughout the novel and sticks to it. I think only once the manhwa has her mention she doesn’t want to ruin her life again nor his.

They did not start as hopeless romantics. Ines isn’t even a romantic person. Most of what Ines says is her ‘romanticizing’ their life together after the fact and especially when compared to her life with Oscar. Ines chose the painter because she desperately wanted to escape Oscar. She was looking for someone to runaway with and the painters came to paint her portrait for the national wedding in three months. She saw the painter, liked his face, and decided to go to his room stark naked one night. Dude even cried out in fright when he saw the naked noble daughter who is the crown prince’s fiancée enter his room naked. Ines then told him to shut up or the maids will hear and she proceeded to seduce him. She didn’t know his name when she was sexing him. That’s why there’s that line, ‘My name is Emiliano’ because that’s how it all started. She knew him for only 10 days before she ran away with him.

Author said Ines wasn’t even in love with him at the time they ran away. She said what Ines felt was something immature. Even the Korean novel readers knew it wasn’t love when she ran away because a reader asked the question and the author answered it. Author said it’s over time, while they were fugitives alone together and on the run, Ines learned to love the artist because he was kind to her, treated her well and more precious than the terrible life she lived with Oscar. Seems most readers didn’t really take a look at the image of her sitting COLD AND EMOTIONLESS on top of him while he was underneath her crying. That was a stranger she was sitting on top of and getting ready to sleep with.

All they mostly focused on was Emiliano’s look of lust and how “submissive” he looked. I still remember the nasty bato comments, a lot of them weren’t even focusing on Ines’s expression and the gloomy aura.

I understand what you mean. A few of us novel readers had to each make up our minds on what we think. I guess it depends on how sexual assault is viewed. If he gave in and began enjoying it, I think that is what throw people off. I firmly put it as dubious consent because she trespassed in his room and initiated things without prior consent. Where I get murky on sexual assault is because he didn’t run away. He didn’t put up a fight. That’s always why I just put it as doubtful consent.

Ines is the one who romanticizes their past. The most romantic person in this story by far is Carcel. Not Ines. Not the painter. Not anyone else. Ines is very unromantic. A lot of Ines’s changes to become more relaxed and friendly is because of Carcel. Early in their marriage she kept correcting Carcel to try to get him to be more aristocratic. The opposite eventually occurs where she becomes less rigid and more laid-back like Carcel.

I mean yeah, my point is that it doesn’t take away the fact that S.A. still happened, there’s many forms of SA . It’s just not rape. S.A. can happen and it’s up to how the person reacts.

Example: Your roommate shows up naked, flashing, the roommate goes to you and touches you. You feel uncomfortable but don’t know how to react, eventually giving into the lust because you’ve been wanting to unleash sexual desires.

So the S.A. HAPPENED. But the person didn’t care basically is probably what I’m trying to say. And if the person didn’t care in modern world, the assaulter gets away free from any charges.

I understand where you’re coming from. There’s a line there that’s been crossed, but eventually the person lets it happen.

I blame her horrible past for the shift in her life. If I remember correctly, wasn’t she more carefree and happy and smiley? I remember that in the manhwa the moments she got married with crown prince (before he started neglecting her and cheating etc).

Ines in the past was still aristocratic, selfish and self-centered but loved horse-back riding and hunting. Why I say selfish and self-centered is because she would freely admit that she chose Oscar also for his status and the power she would gain. She liked that people had to show deference to her where ever she went with her fiancé crown prince Oscar. After she married Oscar, she was forced to give up her family, her favorite horse and her hobbies. She however didn’t mind doing it because like she said, she loved him the most at that time.

With the artist, she got treated better but had to give up her family, status, name and the things that she loved. She even missed her brother and her favorite horse. No matter what anyone says, she also likes nice things. Notice that even in this current timeline, even though she used to dress in black, the fabric was always top quality. That’s Ines for real.

With Carcel, she doesn’t have to give up anything. Absolutely nothing. Instead she gains a lot of things and people. Just look at the way she’s loved and protected by everyone in Calztela. Even she admits she has never lived a life like this surrounded by people who genuinely care for her.

I wanted to see the context in the novel for this ‘hopeless romantic’ line and sure enough it was about Ines saying that she and the painter were fools together because they didn’t know the value of anything even well deep in poverty. It’s Tappytoon translators who romanticizes the thought by saying ‘hopeless romantic’ while author like romantic lovers with no solution. While it can be somewhat the same, the other term is often romanticizes in English as more than just stating facts.
