But... Regarding what you wrote, I think in that world, the children was being treated like a small adult. Especially since they're are all the child of nobles that is expected to be knowledgeable and quite mature at their age compared to the children of commoner. That's why they are sent to dormitory early so that they can learn to be independent. Anything they do is on them, right or wrong.
I do get your points about their academic capabilities. But I still think they are being portrayed like they are older than their age. Physically and mentally.
