Luckily she does change in the book! She does become stronger, but it is a realistic progression.
Also wanted to add that she does become stronger and doesn't put up with Leon's BS anymore at the current part of the novel I'm reading. No longer a door mat.

Their progression is kind of like enemies to lovers, but I promise you that you will like when it gets to that point. Leon also starts to become better and there are some unexpected twists. The novel definitely has some darker undertones too when it comes to the characters themselves.

Additional warning this is the whole book review so spoilers are there ofc and VERY LONG yes ik i'm jobless and have nothing better to do (i infact have stuff to do but am procrastinating)
I mean i liked it ngl but The plot was half baked, it had the potential but i think to shorten it they sped up the pace and it feels iffy now.
Like the whole "personality>>>face" plotline doesnt make any sense WHEN HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW HER PERSONALLY
Somethings which i wouldve liked in the storyline are:
1)If in the ending uljeong and seolha lived happily in the garden, it wouldve made more sense then cuz we dont get to see when or even HOW they fell in love
Also seolha didnt want that imperial kind of life for herself and her child so it just feels like he overlooked her wants. (plus my inner sapphic yearner wanted that but thats besides the point)
2)Also i would have also liked if she retained the scar for story building for eg smth like heavenly maidens can only heal others not themselves, adds a beautiful touch to the plot and strengthens the whole "personality>face" plot of the story (and for inclusivity purposes too ofc)
Some things i liked abt this plot was:
1)the correct use of concent which is sadly very rare like how he stopped after seolha said shes not in the mood in the bathhouse which ikik is a very low bar but most (smut) manhwas fail to even pass that bar
2)the scar was good(?) too like idk abt realistic but atleast they didnt just make a brushstroke and said "yeah, shes ugly now "
3)Muons character design obv โก theres just smth abt the buff character design that just fiddle my diddle lol plus the long luscious curly hair? Drop the haircare routine girliepop (dont know how they are so shiny after war and stuff but ehh not that big of a plot hole)
Also just to add where i could see the plot going, why not add:
1)some miscarriage arc where we could see muon and seolha bonding fr this time and not just smex (idr care abt smut as long as the plot has potential but mkay) or
2)rebellion war arc WHERE AND HEAR ME OUT ON THIS WHERE HE BRINGS OUT THE YUL GIRLIES TRAINED AS SOLDIERS SJAJAKSHSJ BECAUSE, BECAUSE THEN IT WOULDVE LESSEN SEOLHA'S (AND MY) IFFY-NESS ABT MUON KILLING THE WHOLE YUL CLAN (this one is again just a whacko wish of mine) but even w/o the yul thing a rebellion war arc would've been much more interesting than the whole forgery shit
3) ignoring my Yul militants idea muon couldve just kept the yul girlies safe in some hidden area or villiage type thing and it couldve been an epilogue or bonus episode where he goes "seolha i want to show you a place"" and he like takes her to a forest and pulls the vines like curtain and LO AND BEHOLD SEOLHA'S MOM imagine how happy she wouldve been and then there wouldve been no reason to hate muon (for me and seolha both)
(Also this is just a minute thing but uljeong revealed as the last yul was SOOO unnecessary like wdym?? Congratulations ig?? I meannn it could then also mean that there may be some yul left after all but idkidc i dont want to use anymore of my brain on this,
Final review 2.5/5 not too bad but not good enough, satisfactory when read while on a brainrot streak where you're just reading shit without thinking much abt the plot.
