at least it makes sense in this story! we know that the spell wipes memories (at least on satin), so it makes sense that it wiped his memory. better than characters fainting or getting minor brain damage that causes the wrong type of amnesia.
but its only wiped his memories once,, the first time was just him being transmigrated so idk if its proven to wipe his memories. i think its likely though!
