Oh woww this manga is a Huge shining green flag! I love LOVE Yuuichiro. That thing he said about sexuality, about it being like shades of colors and that there are so many ways to love.... that shit resonates deeply with me. Also, the way respect and consent are depicted here is on another level, seriously. Millions of kudos to the author for writing the manga the way they did!
Ps. I also agree with other commenters--BL manhwas could never! This is the level of maturity i want to see from BL manhwa authors, hopefully soon.
Incoming long ass rant!
I just finished season 1 and was kinda (read: very) let down. Like it had potential, a premise that wasnt new but interesting enough, gorgeous art, and pretty cool monster designs, but every character here has the personality of a dried out swimming pool. Except Kang Hwi, of course, but even he quickly became shallow and repetitive after his few first appearances.
The MC, Kibong, had too great of a set up for his character to be this boring. Man was trapped for 3000 YEARS in a simulation with only one monster and himself, forced to relive the same horrifying experience over and over again, feeling and watching his own body being brutalized a bazillion times, yet he came out of that experience with practically intact mental health? What motivation did he have to help any of other characters? Like, how did he even still have the ability to talk, let alone interact with other human and have compassion for them? We never saw the side effects of being forced to die continuously without taking a break for even a second for--i repeat---THREE FUCKING THOUSAND YEARS on him. He just got hotter and broodier and that's it??
There was also little to no bond between him and other characters. Everyone was supposed to admire and have a very deep connection with him (like how most harem fantasy works), but there were nothing in what i've read so far that made it believeable. No bonding moments, no private or profound coversations, no defining scenes, nothing--the characters kept saying that they respect Kibong and clinging onto him, but there was nothing to base that affection on, because Kibong literally had ZERO personality. Even his mom, who was supposed to be his one and only reason to live, never had even a single meaningful interaction or scene with Kibong. We just knew that she's his mom, but other than that, there were no important moments that could make us truly feel Kibong's desperation, like he really had to give everything and anything to keep her alive.
Also, i hate, HATE Sys' personification. There is no purpose at all to give the fucking System a body of a very voluptuous woman who loved to press her huge boobs on Kibong at all times -- except for the male gaze bullshit. Also, the readers are expected to feel the strong bond between her and Kibong because they were together for 3000 years, but like, how??? The author never bothered showing it. We never saw anything from the simulation after the first chapters, and Sys was literally a computer system with just a tad more personality than Windows XP user dialogue during those 3000 years. She only gained character AFTER Kibong escaped the simulation and a body shortly after. Her interaction with Kibong was transactional at best, but we're supposed to care about her? When she was absorbed by the mean guy were we supposed to feel more than "oh shoot, my incredibly advanced iPhone is gone"??
And by the way, the author made the main villain an Arab complete with turban and shit. So. Yeah. Shallow characters and a (glaring) hint of racism. Gave it 2 stars for the art only.
Why did the author have to include the rape plot if the story was going to develop this way? It ruined everything for me tbh, and no matter how wholesome or amazing their relationship becomes, i still can't forgive how insultingly glossed over and downplayed the rape is.

Why didn't Lau stay with Xin? I know something happened that made them drift apart from each other but it's Xin's safety being compromised here. If they suspected that someone was sneaking into Xin's bedroom and tattooed his back without his consent (which is impossible by the way, how the hell did they not suspect that something unnatural was going on?), why didn't they put security detail to watch over Xin for the time being? Or just use the security camera to monitor the bedroom? I'm so confused.
But alas, the art is superb and the story got me hooked, can't wait for the next chapter.

tldr; interesting and original premise but poor execution. All the more disappointing because i had such a high hope for this manhwa.
(Spoiler alert)
The story is filled with too many plotholes, the rule of this world was so arbitrary that it became a joke, and the characters' actions and motivations made no sense -- for example, a False could tell the truth in writing, so why the hell did Jinseol get all angsty about not being able to be honest with his mom and sister? One of his motivations to steal Saegye's ability was because he wanted to truthfully say "i love you" to people -- just freakin text them! And also, putting aside the outrageously Dumb logic of swapping identities by kissing, why did Jinseol need to make Saegye fall for him in the first place? If all he needed was a kiss, he could've manipulated him or made up any excuse. He could get a kiss from Tan, but not from Saegye? And that public reveal about Dares were written so freaking poorly i actually laughed. The author made it as if it was Saegye's decision to expose the Dares (and by extension, his feelings for Jinseol) that changed the world, but what would he have done if Caesar didn't want to get involved? Wasn't it HER decision that mattered the most, in the end? She was a deus ex machina who had all the means and power to reveal Dares without getting buried by the government. She was the one who influenced Saegye the most in this matter -- at first, she didn't see any benefit when Saegye wanted to help Tan, so she discouraged him from exposing the Dares. But once she had her own agenda, she was the one who encouraged Saegye to expose himself and helped him to do it smoothly (with no real consequences shown, what the HELL). So why tf did she tell Tan that all of these huge changes for the freakin humanity was all because of Saegye? Without her, Saegye's choice or feelings for Jinseol meant shit in resolving the conflict, let alone changing the world -- and i hate that a lot (also she kissed a minor, so screw her)

A bittersweet coming of age story with well written enemies to friends to lovers trope. Even with all its shortcomings, this manhwa still managed to stab my heart with the longing, sadness, confusion and excitement of being young.

CW: DUBIOUS CONSENT
If you ignore that one awkward, dubcon scene, it's actually very cute and wholesome. I always love slice of life romance where the MCs hang out in domestic goodness, and the transition of them being acquaintances to close friends and then lovers is just *chef kiss*

Okayy another friends to lovers story! The dynamic between the MCs is everything, i get that one of them is very unhinged and borderline toxic, but somehow their relationship just works because these two dumbasses are made and MAD for each other. Good for a quick smutty read!

Touma, an heir to one of the biggest companies in Japan, met the intriguing and strange Fujimi. He soon fell for him, and the two began the most absurd, over the top, and hilarious process of becoming each other's partner. Funny and surprisingly sweet, this one is certainly refreshing to read!
Can anyone recomend me something similar to this where the MC is completely overpowered and unhinged?
