Shit... My heart, it hurts so much. Why did bad things always happen to the beautiful angel Mel... I guess its better that he died first (as harsh as that sounds) because I don't think he could have taken if it had been Kain. He was as strong, and yet as delicate as an intrinsic spider web. Just as beautiful too.
I bawling my eyes out like a big baby, but this story is the most hard hitting I've read. It also shows realistically how hard it is for people to come out to people they know, and the reactions as well. Of course some people will always be stuck in their way, but those who love you will try to understand and change their prejudices, even if it takes a while. It also shows that people who are homophobic or have any other kind of prejudice are not always evil. They may just be afraid of what they don't understand or just believe what they were taught to believe. But ultimately they learned that love is love and that Kain, even though he loved men, was still Kain, their son and friend.
I do have some problems with the characters though, mainly Kain as he was very abusive at the beginning of their relationship, he not only accused Mel of cheating/still thinking of his exes/being more satisfied with them than with him, Kain himself cheated multiple times. He even slept with some stranger and told Mel about it without what I perceive to be remorse. In fact I believe he did it just to make Mel feel bad for something he didn't do. Kain also slept with Mel's ex, and I honestly see no rationale for it other than him believing he was hot. It made me question his love for him, as who the hell would betray their loved one so horribly? He also did something that really reminds me of an abusive relationship and manipulation when he said "if you really love me you'll let me fist you." That really kind of hit me hard, especially since Mel agreed and Kain struck him. Mel was really afraid to lose Kain and was willing to do anything to keep him around, and as we later found out he hates rough sex as he was sexually abused by many people in his life. I'm glad Kain stops cheating on Mel though, and stopped abusing him.
Overall it was a good story, not a very realistic one though, as Mel was almost always in danger of dying in it, and Kain stopped abusing Mel (most people who are abusive need counseling, therapy, and/or medication in order to stop). It taught some very good lessons on tolerance, and issues that come up with coming out.
Even though it made me cry, I like how they included what happens after everything is resolved, and that the characters have an impact on the community even after they have passed away. I have always wondered how some characters in other manga would feel if they grew old and their partner passed on. I thought it was a nice touch that Kain and Mel met again in the afterlife.
Also I didn't read the last story because this was just too much heartache for one night ┗( T﹏T )┛
Sometimes I feel that way around certain people too, its like I can't help but bully and tease them.... But anyway! Sam and Sam need to realize that they both like each other romantically, and that they can be in an Dom/Sub relationship and also be in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. T_T
Hopefully they get this resolved soon
Anyone else not able to read chapter 15?
